   Comments: The current location is in a commercial/industrial zon with no residential community anywhere in the immediate vicinity. It is absurd to for Fairfax County to absorb Fairfax City's burden and unfair to the residents and bussinesses of the area who live and work hard and want a safe and clean environment for their families.

   Comments: I am deeply concerned about the issues of security and other problems that the homeless shelter may bring to our community. Numerous Police reports outline the problems associated with the current Lamb Center location and I see no reason to bring those problems to our community. Why create problems when no problem currently exists.

    Comments: This would put a huge damper on the improvements of the Merrifield area. With the town center being constructed, it looks as though Merrifield was on it's way to a better neighborhood, but I believe this would cause unfortunate affects.

    Comments: We have already had an increasing problem with illegal immigrant loitering at nearby shopping centers and gang-related vandalism to cars in our parking lot. With the opening of a homeless shelter literally a block away from our residence, the crime rate is likely to skyrocket, and property values will decline considerably. Taxpayers with high income levels will begin to leave the area. Also, opening a homeless shelter in Merrifield is likely to impede the community revitalization effort that is currently underway. I agree that the homeless in our area should have somewhere to turn; however, the negative implications of a shelter's effect on our neighborhood far outweigh the social benefits.

    Comments: Merrifield is finally starting to take a turn for the better by cleaning up Gallows Rd and Lee Hwy, building a towncenter, and making it a more enjoyable place to live.     Comments: Speaking as someone who grew up in a bad neighborhood, I am extremely reluctant to have similar elements in close proximity to where I and many others have paid near a fortune to live - in hopes of living in a decent enough neighborhood where my chance of being ASSAULTED is less (notice I said less, not nonexistent). If at all possible, please count me among those who categorically OPPOSE the creation of a shelter near where we live. I am not thinking of property values, I am thinking of NOT BEING ASSAULTED!!!!

This is not suitable for a residential area with many women and children who use sidewalks on a regular basis to wait for school buses and walk to local restaurants, stores, etc..     Comments: The current plan for this shelter is next to my daughter and son in laws home. I do not want my family explosed to the soon to be dangers and loitering of undesireables near their home and most of all my family, They chose this area as newltweds because of the quality of the neighborhood and convience to both jobs. Since moving in nearly two years ago they have purchased a second home in the same community in order to stay there and raise a family. They did buy these two properties at a premium to have them now run down by people who in most cases don't care about themselves let alone others and their property. There are numerous places in Fairfax County and City that are not in direct residential areas that would better suited for a facility such as this. I am quite familiar with the current locations of the homeless shelter they are planning to relocate and I have yet to drive by in the evening and not see some sort ot undisirealbe just loitering on the corners and in some cases seem to be handling drug transactions, Currently the shelter is located in a business area rather than residential and it should reamin there or be moved to an area that would not effect business or resisdetial tax payers. The reason this facility is up for relocations is because of the problems it currently provides and there is absolutely no excuse to move it into an area where more people will be exposed to this kind of activity and crime.
