Comments: It was the doctors that over medicated me for phyiscal injuries that caused me to be labled with mental conditions. I was on cobra and my phyciarist dropped all patients with cobra insurance. Could not find another one. Yet the laws are requiring patients to go to pain specialists and psychiatrist for certain medication. They are the worst pill pushers out their. I can not get individual health coverage because of being on certain medication that is considered mental illness. Owning your own business and you have to have a minimum number of people to get group insurance. What the heck. So no coverage is available. My general family doctor is a doctor whom really looks at his patients needs and will go over all medication and will not try to push any medication if one is not needed. The pharmisutical companies are what drives are cost up, unnessary tests, perscribing medications that have more bad side effects then what the benifit may be and medication only treats the outside illness not what is causing the illness. Because i have been labeled under the mental category, which again i got to that label from a pain management doctor over medicating me. Caused me to have other organs fail and had to have them removed. My body was so toxic from all the medications. When i was in the hospital 2 times in 8 months i complained of stomach pains and i was bloating up and looked 5 months pregnant. i gave them all my stystems of the constant pain, being sick at my stomach, constantly feeling hungry like I needed to eat because my stomach felt like it had too much acid. They gave me nexium. Any intelligent person would tell you nexium is not what i needed, i did not have acid reflux nor ulcers, they don't cause your stomach to swell to look like you are pregnant. After 8 months of suffering and being perscribed the latest and newest drug out there, and becoming severally depressed from the meds and being in so much pain, they finally ran the right test and found that my gallbladder was not functioning so thats why i was gaining weight only in that area and I had to have it removed. Birth control pills are causing more and more young girls to have endometreosis earlier and earlier and the doctors have no clue what they are doing or even begin to understand why there are so many cases of endometetrosis. I had to insist that a doctor run a complete panel of thyroid test. they didn't even know what the full panel was. My daughter went to the obgyn doctor because of very painful periods. They switched her about every 3 months trying everything they had available. Not one of them worked. However, they did succeed in causing her to have more problems developing endometreosis before she was 20 years old. I had to insist they run a thyroid test every time they changed her pills or took her off of them. The only time her thyroid test came back close to normal range was after they stopped the pills she was on and had her take pure progesterone tablets. The thyroid controls your bobies hormones and endometreosis is caused from too much estrogen being produced. the estrogen is what causes the lining to thicken and then not all of it gets sluffed off like it should which is what the progesterone does so what doesn;t get sluffed off starts attaching itself to the uterous, ovaries and can get much worse. Unless you eat organic, the steriods and growth hormones they put in our meets and milk ae also contributing to the increase of thyroid problems and endometrosis. Doctors are not God but most think they are and too many people put way to much trust in them. The pharmisutical companies are killing us and the medical doctors are all about making appointments every 15 minutes and perscribing what ever medicine pays the most perks. Its all about money not the care of the person. If i didn't start looking into and researching things i would have been dead from being misdianosed and medicated for thngs i didnt need and the my mother is a servivor of cancer only because we took her out of the rehabilitation facility that was starving her to dealth. She could barley get a sip of water down and they wanted her to eat solid food and would not let her use her feeding tube. They did not even gradually do it they just stopped the tube feedings and she lost more and more weight. 50 lbs in 6 weeks. The doctors told us she would be lucky to live a few months. the ptscan came back showing that the activity was very high and the cancer was sprending when in fact after that doctor visit i pulled her out of the rehab facility, took her home, and within 2 weeks of getting nutrition through her feeding tube, she started to feel stronger. However the damage was already done and caused her body to fight off the the chemo and radiation posioning in other side effects. They dont tell you what other problems you may go through or that radiation and chemo to the head area would cause caturacts. Again they were treating her eyes for all sorts of other diagnosis. went to 4 different eye specialists and they all gave her 4 different opions and of course the 2 of the 4 were out to get the $5-6,000.00 full caturact and fix the eyes so no more glasses which medicare and other insrances wont pay for. So it is out of pocket to the patient. Do they really think someone in their 70's who just went through all the cancer treatments will have an extrs $6000.00 on hand. So after she was home for 3 months she had th ptscan test repeated and guess what No activity, the test showed no signs of what the first one did. They were killing her from malnutrition, starving her to dealth. She had to have her throat strectched slowly over 5 visits to help open the passage way so she could eat regular food again. Close to the end of the 2012 year Adderall regular tablets were very hard to get and generic not at all. The paharmacies said that the manufacturer of the medication was legally only allowed to manufacture a certain quantity and that they had no idea the medication would be perscribed in the amount it was. What was available was the XR or the non generic brand. A difference of at least $300.00 or more for a one month supply. People on this medication and do not have insurance were put in a very critical state which if medication has been taken over a long period of time and suddenly stopped could cause, seizures, stokes, heart attacks and even dealth. The was suck a scandal and lie. There was no government law stopping the manufacturing of the generic brand, the manufacturer was greaty and took advantage of the public by only making the bran name Adderall and Aderall XR available so they could make more money. It took almost 4 months to get generic back in stock. And its still very difficult to find in alot of pharmacies. After 4 days I was without and I was starting to lose control of my muscles and was seriouly on my way to the hospital with symptoms of a stroke or heart attack. It was just in time that we found a pharmacy that had it in stock and within 3 to 4 hours i started to feel better. Where is the world headed that money is put before someones life? I am so scared and concerned that we are heading into self destruction. I have said alot and that isn't even the half of it. Like I said I only became labeled because of doctors misdiagnosing and perscribing the wrong medication. I was on 9 different medications under a pain specialist. How many people can take medications like Trazadone, lyrica, muscle relaxers, pain killers, morphine, klonipin, amongst many others. If i didn't overdose accidently, it was killing my organs, liver, kidneys and gallbladder. So I am labeled and badly effected all because i trusted the doctors. I couldn't even afford the premiums for health coverage. I only need it for an emergency. i don't go to doctors, don't get colds, flu or other sicknesses that manygo to doctors for. All i need is 4 medications 3 of which are tyroid and hormones because I ended up with endometrosis and losing my ovaries but still have to take the hormones because I'm still too young for menopause. 90 day supply for less then $20.00 each I can do. The adderall generic is still exspensive around $75.00 a month. Someone needs to speak up for the rights of the people. Why does it cost 10x more to have staples put in then to have regular stitches. Why do so many test have to be repeated for no reason. Health care is what it is supposed to be Health Care not Give me your money Health Bank. And stop the pharmisutical companies from driving all the cost of health insurance up. I could go on and on with so many other examples but i hope this is enough to help our cause.

Comments: I am a BCBS member and I have tried to access services for mental health many times in Volusia County. There are not many options and not a lot of specialists. I had to drive 45 min one way to access a mental health provider with the experience I needed.

Comments: If all the people that really cared about helping others--churches, movie stars, and others who have achieved much and who the public seem to respect would get behind this movement --What a difference this would make. Giving all the press we do to the need for green energy, smoking, sexual preference protection, etc., etc. are all meaningless if we do not help those that can not help themselves--children and those with both mental and physical illnesses that are being ignored and desparately need our help. I heard a part of Ted Koppel's report from Friday about the number of children kept in solitary confinement in adult prisons. What is the matter with our country? Hey O'Riely, these are people too. They were and are someone's child--baby. Get out there and cover this story.

Comments: I have taken over Dr. Dianne Albright's practice in Inverness, FL. She had a number of clients with BC/BS and I have made application to become an innetwork provider since opening my practice 10/2010. I have scompleted nd sent forms expressing interest in becoming a porvider with New Directions for a multitude of reasons. First and foremost is that the clients that I acquired as result of Dr. Dianne Albright's recommendation as they were her clients and trusted her, ended either ending their tx as I am only an approved out-of-network provider or had to find another place / clinician to be treated. I had been told in the past that if a clinician leaves an area that this may be cause to bring another provider on board in that area. Well, Dr. Albright left this county and I did not so much as get a call back when I left several messages with New Directions for someone to return my call as no one had even responded to the forms I had submitted time and again requesting at least a review of my credentials as well as the various insurances that i am already a provider with. This includes Medicaid, Medicare, United, KidsCare, Magellan, Wellcare, Healthease, Aetna, Cigna, ValueOptions, Tricare, Military OneSource, Compcare, Optum, Mental Health Net, Humana, Amerigroup and 3 EAP Programs to name a few. I am providing Mental Health, Child & Family Therapy, Work with At-Risk-Youth, Trauma (Certified in Clinical Hypnosis with Rapid Trauma Resolution); Certified Addiction Professional--- and see clients in both Hernando and Citrus County. I have had numerous calls from individuals seeking treatment either for themselves or their children but have BC/BS and all I can tell them is that I can't even get a response from their insurer and encourage them to call with their concerns over wanting the specialized services that i have to offer but have had a number of them call me back to tell me that if I am not an approved provider then they will not cover the services. I have had quite a few pay out of pocket to see me. One of my specialties is also working with children who present with self-injurious behaviors/cutting, suffered sexual abuse, and or other traumatizing events. There's barely a skeleton crew of clinicians-- especially in Citrus County-- and few if any that specialize in the type of work that I do. I just don't get it. Why is New Directions so resistant to approving me/my company from becoming a provider considering I would only be filling the shoes of a provider who has left this county-- Dr. Dianne Albright. I don't know if anyone could help me in trying to find someone with New Directions that would at least be willing to speak with me about this as sending / faxing for letters of interest either falls on deaf ears of no one even looks at them. Sorry for the long and probably exhausting reading. I did not start out to write all this but I am really frustrated with the lack of interest in BC/BS and New Directions in at least replacing the clinicians they are losing in an area let alone add on new ones. It truly is SINFUL. Sophia Greiner, LCSW, CAP, ICADC Owner/Dir/Therapist of Advanced Counseling Services, PA 352-364-0067, advcounserv@gmail.com, www.advancedcounselingservicespa.com

Comments: As a society, we cannot ignore the needs of the mental disabled in every facet of everyday life. We all suffer if we neglect to protect and provide the needed medical benefits suffered by abused domestic victims, war veterans, bullied adolescents in schools, and even workplace harassment and discrimination victims. I support this cause.
