For years now there are black men from different backgrounds that congregate on Shepherds Bush Common ( formally known as Shepherds Bush Green ) West London. These men and some women seem to have alcohol problems, drug problems and all other problems that the dispossessed have in this society. They congregrate in on Sheperds Bush Common and sit in mainly in the area that should be used to have lunch, they also do sit in other areas of the Common as long as there is somewhere to sit. They play dominoes in the lunching area, and alwys seem to have alchohol at their disposal. They are loud and boisterous, and sometimes fights do break out. Now there is always community officers or police in the area. The Common has a play area for the children and many pedestrians use it as a walk through to get transport, or to the shopping areas it is also used for family days out when the weather is good, to play football, tennis etc, the things that you would expect to happen and find and happen on a Common it's all there. The one problem is this congregration of people day in day out (weather permitting) getting together, drinking alcohol, smoking, being rowdy, and very intimidating to the rest of the public . It is obvious that these individuals clearly have problems, whether physical, mental, financial or social and everyone needs a chance to get on in life. I feel that a place is needed for these people that go to the Common. They need a space that is inside that has tables and chairs for gaming ie dominoes, cards, toilet facilities and possibly refreshments. Somewhere that is warm and somewhere where they can meet in comfort, warmth and where their behaviour can be monitored. The old Shepherds Bush Library is a perfect location for them. The old library has plenty of space and has some usage at present but I'm sure that just the space that was formally the childrens section of the library would be ideal. These black men (and women) need somewhere to go, we all have our troubles and vices in life but to have our public space hijacked by these individuals because no one gives a damned and because they do not have the facilities to go to is very sad and outright disgusting. Some of these individuals have worked and payed taxes at some point in their life. They need the same opportunies as any other sectors of society. Please sign my petition, this one is for the people of Shepherds Bush in West London but I'm sure that there are many situation's like this in many places around London and the home counties. Something must be done. Our children must have decent play areas to play in without drunken down and outs taking root in those vicinities. The public should be able to walk through a park with out feeling intimidated by these dispossessed unfortunate people or the community/police officers!
