As a single mother with two children one who is bipolar, I completely depend on the MC+ program. My christian values prompt me to reach out to those less fortunate. I can't help but wonder how the Republicans can claim to uphold christian values yet consistently look to line their pockets at the expense of those less fortunate.Flag

If you can find my petition sign it as well, the title was "Why are good people cut and the lazy rewarded"Flag

Name: Heather Amaro on Jul 28, 2005State: MOCountry: USComments: I have cervical pre cancer cells at the stage cin3 which means I need treatment asap. The BCCCP is for women with this problem but because I am under 35 they can't help me. They could of before the cuts in medicaid that made the age limit older than 35 not younger. So if I can't find out how to pay for the treatment I will die. I have a 7 year old daughter that I will leave behind all because of cuts in medicaid.Flag

Who said other agengies will pick up the load---boloney! No one will. Gov. Blunt is way off base with this legistation and I sure won't vote for him knowing his views now! Many of these folks have genetic disorders like PKU that they were born with and will have all their lives. This is pitiful!Flag

Thanks to these cuts, I will no longer be able to receive dental care or purchased needed equipment to help me get around and take care of myself. I wish politicians would stop taking out their financial problems on the poorest citizens! It's time for the richest percentage of Americans to kick-in and help those of us that are less fortunate!Flag

Name: Amelia Eason on Aug 6, 2005State: MOCountry: USComments: This cut is similar to the one made a few years ago. I can almost sympathize with cutting back on adults with no physical or mental limitations. But why take away medical attention from children whom are helpless in the way of their parents financial situation and the elderly come on, give them a break. they have worked all their lives to only have everything taken away from them due to inability to pay taxes and health insurance so that they may receive these benefits that they so desperately need. and the children what is one to do without the means to get a child to the doctor when needed what is really absurd is the dental cut for dentures. the majority of elderly in fact to not have teeth. so if medicaid will not pay for dentures, are on medicaid because they cannot afford these things, remember that, are we going to let them starve without proper dental care, you have inadequate nutrition. which in turn, leads to more illness. illness in more and more people can then lead to others being sick as well. i am a single mother of 3, work part-time, am attending college full time. yes its not the governments fault i ended up in a terrible divorce from a dead beat dad. but i do also pay taxes and have since i was 16. part of these taxes are to assist me in getting the child support i need to assist me in raising my children. thus far, after nearly 5 years, i have yet to get any help in that area. the one thing i have been able to count on is mc+ and daycare assistance. there is no possible way that i can afford healthcare on my kids or myself. as far as myself, i am an adult and can find a way to remedy myself and most of the time my children. but what happens if one of my children because desperately ill am i going to be turned away are they going to let my child go on wiht some contagious illness or life threatening illness because ofmy inability to pay cash or lack of insurance is that the american way my ancestors and relatives of today are all business owners or college graduates in well positions whom all pay tremendous amounts of taxes, as do i so if the portion of our taxes we're paying are not going towards the amount of medical they should be, what are they going for is it that there are too many unqualified disability pension recipients i am here to tell you that in fact the state does pay a tremendous amount of food stamp benefits. a family of 5 on average receives well over $500 per month. is that necessary if this were coming out of your pocket, my pocket, personally i would try to buy groceries as cheap as i could, but stay healthy. i think of anything, cuts should be made there, not to cut itout but reduce the monthly amount. the story could go on and on but does it really do any goodFlag

Without them within 2 months I will not be able to dress myself. Medicaid has denied me. No insurance I know of will accept me. I am one of the many people that need help.Flag

Name: Stacy Rhodes on Aug 8, 2005State: MOCountry: USComments: My mother, father and father-in-law are all going to be affected by these cuts. They barely make enough now to pay their bills and buy food and necessities and now they are being ask to pay a spindown. This will take away any money they had for food and necessities. In other words they will have to do without food and supplies or their doctors and medications. I believe a lot of these disabled people that have so many prescriptions and home health will have to be put into nursing homes because they cannot afford the spindown and that will cost the state a whole lot more.Flag
