Name: Acacia Kapusta on Jan 26, 2010Comments: I wholeheartedly agree. I have a neuromuscular disease covered by the MDA called Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. I'm currently studying hospitality management at Cal Poly Pomona, but while going to school, the reality is that I'm not going to be able to find a job in the industry without a degree, because the only available positions require a lot of physical labor. I'm barely scraping by with Social Security and my student loans are piling up; I'd love to have the opportunity to hold my own job and work for my money, rather than having a check handed to me that keeps getting smaller and smaller due to the poor economy.Flag

Name: Michael Corey Youngman on Jan 26, 2010Comments: I agree 100%. I have a very rare bone disease, but I am in no way taking away from what you have. I am stuck in the same boat. Unable to woirk and can bairly walk anymore. I can't find work even though I am capable of working. Another option is to have MDA offer schooling for something you are able to do. It's a win-win for both. They will be able to teach you to become and independent persoan and it will allow you to give to others so they can have the same option. I am totally with you on this one sweetie!!Flag

Name: Shelley Blohm on Jan 27, 2010Comments: I am Chloe' mom I have seen her put her best foot or should I say 4 wheels forward for many years with a stand up attitude yes stand up attitude more than I can say for most us people who have less to complain about. I have watched Chloe grow into a wonderful young woman that has complained about nothing. One day I had the blessing of her finally sharing with me with a few tears in her eyes how difficult it is not to be part of the working field. As a mother of a daughter with a disability I became very upset internally for her. Please sign this petition to show MDA that they should practice what they preach. They need to remember that these kids they send to camp one day grow up and live fruition lives so come on and hire them...Flag
