We, the undersigned, support Maryland Attorney General Doug Gansler's official opinion recognizing out-of-state same-sex marriage recognition.

We believe, as the Baltimore Sun, that this opinion advances the cause of civil rights in Maryland with his opinion that the state of Maryland must recognize same-sex marriage from other states. We further believe that this decision is not only a huge victory for the gay and lesbian community of Maryland, but also for the principles of equality, justice, and fairness for all.

We commit ourselves to fighting any attempt by Delegate Don Dwyer or his extremist colleagues to roll back our recent gains.

We urge state agencies to review their practices and procedures in order to comply with state law by providing equal protections for couples with valid marriage licenses.

Only civil marriage equality here at home and an end to discrimination at the federal level will provide true equality for all LGBT couples.

We are committed to working with state agencies, as well as to advancing full marriage equality in the Free State.
