This petition is in regards to MCPS new policy for the 2009-2010 school year regarding cell phones in school. The pettitioners request that the new policy be adjusted to suit the needs of the modern student. The requests are as follows: 1) Cell phone use before the opening bell of class shall not be prohibited, as it does not interfere with the schools function 2) Cell phone use between classes shall be permited as it allows for communication between students and their parents or guardians for issues pertaining to the school day or arrainging rides for after school. 3) Cell phone use during lunch shall be permited as it allows for communication between students and their parents or guardians for issues pertaining to the school day or arrainging rides for after school. 4) Students shall have the ability to use their cell phones to check time of day during the school day as many of the clocks throught the building are incorrect. 5) By signing this the Students agree that cell phones will not be used during instruction time throughout the day, nor will the students use the devices for academic dishonesty
