Name: Robyn Hopkins on Sep 27, 2007Comments: The current owners of McGlades have put considerable time, money and effort into renovating a long-time business, It would be an asset to the surrounding neighborhoods to have this business re-opened. Many of us have met there for various social occasions. It is a travesty that this business has been closed because of obscure zoning requirements and complaints from one or two neighbors when McGlades has been there for many years already.Flag

It has been a meeting place for many occasions as well as a favorite place for my children to ride their bikes to. We get pies for Thanksgiving, fruit in the summer, shakes and lunch. The question everytime we drive past McGlades is "when are they going to re-open"Flag

Everyday we drive by and she asks if it is open yet because she wants to go there. We definately would love to see it reopened!Flag

Name: Carrie Dinwoodie on Sep 27, 2007Comments: This area needs more respectable, attractive, community oriented businesses like McGlades. The support of the local farmers, artists as well as those seeking a casual meeting area is vital to the growth of this north side area. If businesses like McGlades can't survive the "growth" that this area is experiencing, than what kind of area are we really growingFlag

Name: Erin Stephens on Sep 27, 2007Comments: It is a shame that this business has had to shut its doors. Any consideration to the rezoning of the property so that McGlades can have the opportunity to reopen would be greatly appreciated! We have missed them and their business tremendously. It was a strong asset to our Northside community and their presence has been missed. We should absolutely support the fresh produce growers in our own "backyard." Are we not having a significant problem with obesity in America With daily fresh produce readily available for purchase, my family eagerly enjoyed what McGlades had to offer. Please allow them to reopen.Flag

Name: Rand Miller on Sep 27, 2007Comments: This is the kind of neighborhood business that urban planners long for. Low impact and community-centric. If our zoning prohibits or impedes development of this kind then our zoning laws and the government officials who control the zoning laws are no longer representing what is best for our community.Flag

Name: Tony Fryman on Sep 27, 2007Comments: I am not a homeowner of the surrounding neighborhoods but I am the proprietor of a small business in the same area. I feel that the location of McGlades, just off highway 2, makes it most ideal for rezoning with minimal to no impact on the surrounding neighborhoods. The new school opening will significantly impact the roads but McGlades will be negligible.Flag

Name: Karen A Smith on Sep 27, 2007Comments: McGlades has been a place where I purchased fresh fruits and vegetables and gift items for several years. It was convenient to have fresh produce so readily available. Since the renovation of McGlades, it became a beautiful setting that not only provided fresh produce, but also a place to meet with family, friends, neighbors, Bible study groups, committees, etc. I feel that is was a great asset to the community. Shawn Gabel and his wife Theresa and family and their crew did a fabulous job of renovating the building, including nostalgia of some of the original posts of the previous building. I feel that reopening McGlades will only enhance the beautiful Mead community.Flag
