Dear Senator Edwards, We would like to bring to your attention the recent comments of Harold Ickes, advisor to Senator Clinton\'s presidential campaign. Speaking to a reporter from The New York Times, Mr. Ickes said of states that Senator Obama has won or is likely to win: \"Most of those states havenâ\'t voted Democratic in a presidential since the Johnson landslide over Goldwater in 1964, and we don\'t see that changing. They\'re great states, but Idaho, Nebraska and the Carolinas are not going to be in the Democratic column in November. He\'s winning the Democratic process, but that is virtually irrelevant to the general election.\" We, the undersigned, believe that to achieve the initiatives that you rightly set forth and dedicated your service to - healthcare for all Americans, better education to compete in a global economy, more favorable trade policies, the end of our entanglement in Iraq and the restoration of American values in the conduct of our foreign policy - need a president to represent The United States of America, not just The United States that Democrats are most likely to carry in a general election. Mr. Ickes remarks were an affront, not only to the Democratic Parties in each of the states he mentioned including ours, but to any Democrat who may have supported her in those states or might have been inclined to support her in the remaining states. It relegates Democrats in those states to a second class status in their own party. We therefore appeal to you as Democrats, as North Carolinians and as Americans to endorse the candidate who will compete to represent all The United States, Senator Barack Obama. Respectfully,

Kay Newby, United States7 years ago Comments: Please endorse Senator Obama The country needs him and the hope he brings. Also the youth he has gotten involved in this campaign is like the past in many ways, I still remember the youth being a driving presents and I believe in the youth I am too old to lead we need to let the youth have areal say. 1968 they didn't like young people and didn't listen - too bad the country would be a better place now!!
