| 3401 | PAULA JOHNSON | LONG BEACH CALIFORNIA | What a shame it would be to take away the option of private vacation rentals. It allows us to experience Maui in a different way than at a resort. The resort experience is available anywhere ... The private rentals make Maui a much more desirable destination.... |
| 3402 | brett mccall | los angeles, ca | I would never stay at a hotel while visiting Hawaii, specially Maui. My family and I always rent vacation homes.
Sadly, this will keep us from coming to Hawaii as we'd have to take our business elsewhere. |
| 3403 | Allison Howell | Cincinnati, OH | Having stayed in a non-hotel rental (and then later at a hotel/condo rental) I will NOT be vacationing in Maui at all if non-hotel rentals are unavailable. I am a ER physician from Ohio who vacations at least every 3 months with my husband and family. I have been to Maui on a number of occasions and I do not feel that the "five star" hotels/condos do the island any justice. I will only stay at non-hotel rentals should I decide to return to Maui to spend my vacation dollars. If Maui's government decides for me that those rentals will not be available, I assure you that I (and everyone I know) will not be travelling to Maui! One does not get the same spirit of the island from a hotel that one can get from staying in a non-hotel rental. |

| 3406 | Anonymous | Santa Monica, CA | As a former Maui resident, I enjoy staying upcountry in a rented ohana near family and friends. Staying at a hotel has never been an option for me, I prefer the beauty and peacefulness over the crowded, resort locations. Mahalo! |

I can't believe that i will not be able to stay in a private accomodation in Maui anymore. It makes me so sad, these private accomodations are so charming and are definitely an assett to this beautiful island. They are tasteful and welcoming and i do not see myself coming back for vacations anymore if they have been closed by the authorities. I hope they will take this message consideration. Let's cross our fingers and all the best

| 3410 | Paul Fitch | Freehold, NJ, USA | We've rented vacation homes on Maui and Kuaui and will continue to do so on future visits, but, of course, only on islands which allow this practice. |
| 3411 | Richard Tepper | Palm Desert, Ca, USA | |
| 3412 | peter lams | Franklin TN U.S.A. | I am a radiologist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center Nashville TN .North Shore Maui is a wonderful place to stay and I can combine this with academic meeting on Maui.
However if reasonable private rentals in rural areas is to become a thing of the past I will have to go elsewhere. |
| 3413 | Peter Stoklas | Sweden | Was looking forward to visit Maui.
After reading this I will take my vacation to a place with less restrictions, like anyplace else. |
| 3414 | Tobey Crockett | Los Osos CA USA | We love the upcountry bungalows and would never stay in a hotel. Please help us spend money on vacation while on Maui the way we like: at home, with family and in the aloha spirit. |
| 3415 | Hein Haentjens | B.C., Canada | As much as I like Maui, I won't visit again if I have to stay in a hotel.
Other people may like it; for me it is not an enticing way of spending several weeks on your beautiful island.

| 3416 | Nancy Higgins | Boulder, CO | My husband and I are retired public servants. He was a elementary teacher and I was a Probation Officer. We could not afford to come to Maui if we had to pay the high prices offered by most hotel on the beach. We love Maui but will not be able to vist again if you close down Vacation Rentals. We used to believe in the Aloha spirit but now we are not too sure. |

| 3418 | Dennis Kogl | Denali Park, Alaska 99755 | My wife and I do not like to stay in hotels or condos when visiting the Islands. We stay in vacation rentals or B&B's. Maui Counties ban on vacation rentals, except in certain cities, detracts from our desire to get to the country where there is elbow room. |
| 3419 | Sheryl Asbury | Santa Rosa, CA | I love staying in a condo. It is more private than a hotel or motel and since I scuba dive, hotels don't want my wet gear in their rooms! Please do not close down vacation rental homes - I won't be able to visit if you do. Thanks! |
| 3420 | Ben Sheils | Australia | Please dont ruin the Maui hospitality community!!! |

| 3424 | steven and susan lash | fort wayne, in | We come to Maui for the personal and low key B&B and nature..
We have been there 6 times in the last 3 years and will only consider coming back if we have available the quiet, intimate places to stay.
We are NOT big on high profile hotels. We enjoy Maui for its intimate nature and B& Bs and they are a big part of that for us and many others we know.
Outlawing these establishments woild definitely make us reconsider not coming back to Maui. We would search for other places that offer intimate places to stay. |
| 3425 | Gerald Fisher | Jerome, Michigan USA | My family and I have made numerous vacations to Hawaii and we enjoy Mauai tremendously. Our last vacation to Maui we rented a home there and easily put up 8 people. I hate to think what the cost would have been in a hotel. I know that we would not have been able to do it if we would have had to stay in a hotel. |
| 3426 | Dagny McKinley | Steamboat Springs, CO, USA | As a vacationer, I always opt for Rental Homes or Bed and Breakfasts because it offers me privacy and a different experience of the country than a hotel would. I believe it would be a huge mistake to close them down. |
| 3427 | Tara Reale | San Francisco, CA | |
| 3428 | ronald harris | england | I am sad that the restrictions on holiday accommodation is to proposed to be severely restricted, and that being a past visitor to maui I can only afford the modest luxury to be found in such a beautiful island in a cacation rental,, and therefore the opportunity to visit Maui will be lost to me and obviously to the many past vistors similar to myself. |
| 3429 | Anna Lian | Williams, OR, USA | Please, please do not close the vacation rentals. We simply will not desire to visit Maui anymore if we have to stay in hotels. |
| 3430 | Joshua Greenberg | San Francisco, CA | Please reconsider this decision. We bring our entire family on an annual week+ trip to the north shore of Maui, but would no longer do so if we couldn't rent a condo there. Thank you for your consideration! |
| 3431 | Joyce VanDeVelde | Florida USA | I feel people who own a house should be able rent. Freedom to earn a living from one's own property is thier right. As a traveler I want to have a choice. It also makes it more affordable to come to your island. I findB&Bs and rentals to be more interesting. Not so commercial. One gets a better feel for the place they visit. Limiting the rights of renters is a detrement to your tourist business |

| 3437 | ANdrea Hughes | Douglas, MA | I would not come to visit Maui and spend my tourism dollars there if Bed and Breakfasts were no longer given permits to run. I love B&B's because of the peacefulness, solitude, charm and character that they provide. |
| 3438 | R Malcolm Brown Jr. | Austin, Texas | We have been coming to Maui a number of times and each time we stay with Jeff and Sharyn Stone at their lovely Bed and Breakfast. I probably will not come to Maui again if you ban such nice places. The expensive and outlandish huge hotels do provide income but they also destroy the Hawaiian way of life and really do not provide the unique vacation that we have had in Maui with Jeff and Sharyn.
Please think about this! Do you want a huge commercial enterprise running Hawaii, or do you want people like us to come and partake of your great Hawaiian history, as nicely presented by such owners as Jeff and Sharyn?
Thank you,
R. Malcolm Brown, Jr.

| 3439 | Anonymous | Australia | We would be unable to visit Maui if this type of accommdation was not available - it suits us perfectly! |
| 3440 | Anonymous | ballston spa, ny | we have been visiting for 16 years and i enjoy staying at small business hotels |
| 3441 | Diane Combs | Mesa, Arizona | Please consider something other than this all or nothing ban on vacation rentals. We miss Maui and want to come back soon. |
| 3442 | Jana Talavaskova | Bratislava, Slovakia, Europe | My vacation to Maui was definitely the best vacation I've ever experienced. With 7 other friends we were exploring the whole island during those 10 days we spent there and it was absolutely great to live in little house with privacy and a real hawaiian atmosphere. Many people go for vacation to enjoy this privacy and staying in crowded hotel and personnel walking around you is just not the right way for everyone. Please keep it the way it is! Because that is Hawaii. |
| 3443 | Linda Palmiero | Manlius, N.Y., Onondaga | |
| 3444 | Deborah Vanhutton | Woodbridge, Virginia, USA | I was shocked to discover today (when referring a colleague to vacation in Maui) that my cherished vacation destination, a private vacation rental home in Kula, is no longer allowed to operate! I cannot begin to express my disappiontment and sadness. PLEASE reverse this most ill-considered policy, so I may return once again to stay and heal in my beloved home-away-from-home. |
| 3445 | Gary Wright | Catoosa, Oklahoma | Our famly has vacationed on Maui every year for the past 10 years. |
| 3446 | Chelsea Kirk | Chicago, IL, USA | As a result of this, my family reunion will be going elsewhere this winter. We have annually meet in Maui, but have agreed that until this is adjusted we will no longer. We are extremely disappointed that our options are limited in this way and will miss Maui. |
| 3447 | Sam Luu | Toronto, ON, Canada | We came to Hawaii because of the B&B and love the close intimate venues. |

| 3450 | Paolo d'Alessandro | Rome, Italy | I visited Maui many times always renting a house at North shore. I won't go to an hotel. I only travel selfcatered. Besides, I don't want to feel like a tourist I like the share a community life. The county does not understand that many people, like me, would come back again only if they can rent. No rent? No visit! So what has Maui Economy to gain interdicting rentals?
