Anonymous | We are still students and often have more financial trouble than the younger students with less responsibility. Give us a break.

Anonymous | Other companies do give student benefits to those over 25. Lothian buses whats your explaination? It is ageism discrimination.
Anonymous | Its another shining example of ageism - Many of the people on my year are mature students most of us have families and struggle enough coping with the expenses of books etc without having to worry about travel - Just a thought for Lothian Buses - if SAAS don't discriminate against mature students what gives them the right to?
Jennie Hammett | I am only going to be 21 this saturday, however feel students of all ages, who experince finacial burden should be entitled to a bus pass!
Leisa Cormack | Its about time that older students got the same benefits as the school leavers.
Ashley MacDonald |
Jemma Caldwell | I already have a student bus pass because I am 24 at the moment but I think it is very unfair to suggest that after next month I will no longer be able to reapply for a student one. Do the people at lothian buses forget that those over 25 can actually be students!? Or that somehow on our 25th birthdays a magical spell is cast which gets rid of the financial hardship caused by being a student?!? The current system is extremely unfair and needs to be changed now!!

Roman Pfannes | just the fact that some students are over the age of 25 doesn't mean that they have more money availible.

Lesley Murrin | I had to get a bus pass for one of my placements earlier this year and thought it was disgusting that I had to pay the full price when someone under 26 could get discount. I have 2 children and am a single parent, so money is very tight for me and the discount would have helped.
Tracy Henderson |
Naike Maria Martinez | I think we should pay the same as young student because most of us have financial burdens, and we are students anyway so, what is the difference?
Anonymous | I support this petition wholeheartedly, but also think student bus passes should be available to part-time students who cannot study full-time due to disability or illness.

blake fitzgerald | Due to Lothan Buses currently offering students discounted travel BECAUSE THEIR STUDENTS logic and fairness requies that mature students also recieve a discount BECAUSE THEIR STUDENTS and obviously share the same financial constraints, Blake
James | We are students too, and with the introduction of permit and "pay and display" parking it is no longer financially viable to bring cars to uni. We are in the same financial position as young students but are not entitled to burseries, so should be considered for discount.

Anonymous | As a mature student I feel that I am being discriminated against because of my age, I have a young family to support and unlike most younger students do not have the option of asking my parents to help me out financially. I feel that the discount is needed more by mature students. I would also like to point out to Lothian Buses that the vast majority of young students come to Edinburgh only for the duration of their course and leave upon graduation, mature students on the otherhand are more likely to come from Edinburgh and also stay in Edinburgh after graduation. Perhaps Lothian Buses could look at giving mature students a discount aswell as a kind of custnoer loyalty reward.

Anonymous | i have e - mailed Lothian buses previously about this subject and the reply i got was very cheeky. Hope this campaign is successful.
Youssef Chatti | It's time for it
Chris Barron | As a mature student I travel in to Edinburgh from Livingston every day. The recent expansion of parking zones has caused me to strongly consider using the buses. If I can't benefit from using the buses I will look to find my own alternatives. If the buses are already going to be travelling along their routes is it no beneficial to Lothian Buses to allow anopther paying passenger on board ? I will not use the buses if I have to pay full fare.
Nicole Brandon | I agree wholeheartedly with this move to help older students get to their classes in an environmental and fair way. Especially with the drive to encourage education in all age-groups, it is unfair to put a cut-off on those who can apply for a student entitlement from one of the most important groups in the city.
Anonymous | Full-time students are full-time students, no matter how old they are! Lothian Buses is practising age discrimination for no good reason!
