Emma "IslandWriter"YEAH, more female characters! And I love Katara and Toph. Hooray for Avatar also! LOL I like the idea of this petition!
Amanda RuyleShame on you for not including Katara and Toph in your product lines. This shows an obvious lack of understanding on you part on the importance strong female role models for young children in our society. Your clear disregard for the story line of Avatar and your refusal to include females clearly highlights the sexism that has been a part of the Mattel ethos for decades. We will not purchase any product Mattell offers until your policy changes and you include the female chacters and offer children a true choice and opprotunity for equal representation in their creative play.
male guy!OK mattel, here it goes...ARE YOU CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!how can you posibly not make katara and toph action figures. Ive been searching for them all over online and no results. I have alot of money and was planing to spend it all on aang, zoka, katara, toph and zucko, but you just dont understand that there ae still avatar fans out there with big money tring to obtain these action figures, not to mention action figures collectors. And another thing,do more marketing on these, put more on toystore shelves there are alot of avatar fans out there even though they dont pass the show alot!AND PLEASE make thouse femail action figures i promise THEY WILL SELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anonymousi thi nk it is weird how they don't have any girlz. i'll get over it!

Ethanthis almost borders on insanity. Not ONLY are there many female leading roles in this show, but there's a common theme of gender equality that runs through almost EVERY episode. It's a HUGE part of the show!! And Mattell's actions totally contradict what sits at the very core of Avatar. Had the marketing folks even watched the show, they'd see Katara making her case to be trained with the male water benders, then Toph in her very first scene - wins a combat contest otherwise filled with male contestants, displaying great confidence and also, Azula who clearly excells in every way, she is the one who makes her father proud, not her brother. The inexplicable absence of the female characters from the toy line is a huge insult to everyone, the fans (espeically the young girls watching who now end up sufferering from mixed messages. The show tells them one thing and the toy line implies the opposite!) as well as the show's creators who clearly worked very hard to create something with such a great message. All that they have worked for is totally undercut by Mattell's actions. Grr. Just got so mad...

Cindy MacMy son got Aang, and Zuko for his birthday. We were looking at the brochure that came with to see what else was available. I was stunned to see no Katara. Seriously Appa is available, but not Katara! That's just ridiculous. Toph needs to be added too.
Renna ShessoNo matter what your views are about women and girls and "action figures" (aka "dolls"), you're clearly missing a great marketing opportunity. I hope your stockholders are aware of this!
AnonymousWhere's Katara?

Toy CollectorI collect lots of toys. Avatar is one of the best cartoons that I have ever seen and I love the action figure line for it. But it's not complete. Anyone who watches the show and follows these characters will agree that Katara and Toph are 2 of the main characters. Please..Aang and Saka are lonely without the rest of their family, Please allow me to complete the collection. Otherwise it's just mean.

Elise AndersonHey, Mattel. Where's Katara?
Anonymousmy son and daughter both love watching avatar and playing the games. Both ask where we can get Katara and Toph figures.
SmitaHey, Mattel where is Katara? It's shameful and you are missing out on consumer dollars.
AnonymousIt really is unfortunate that Mattel doesn't make figures of both boy and girl characters from the show Avatar: The Last Air Bender. I've seen quite a *lot* of parents who have the target audience of 3-12 year-old boys who want all of the figures of the t.v. show to recreate the episodes, and to just generally play with. It saddens me when the parents of these children have to explain that there probably won't be any girl figures to play with at all, so their child's collection will always be incomplete.. Then there's of course the girl themselves, and there are a LOT of them that watch Avatar: The Last Air Bender, who would kill for a Katara action figure, in the least; because many are also a fan of Toph, Azula, and Suki. My friends and I would probably buy all of each if we knew that we could have a full collection (and we're adults). My friend's little sister would also buy every single one of them if given the chance, as well. Mattel really is not handling this in a way that would bring maximum profit to their company, and this is what confuses me the most of all. Avatar: The Last Air Bender isn't a show for suckers, like many shows out there for children can be, so please do not expect the consumers of such a show to be so. The show is excellent because it makes fuzzy the line of gender between girls and boys, and above all exhibits possibility. I think honestly that children enjoy this hope for both boys and girls, and this attracts them to the show, and as much would attract them to the products of this show. On a same note, I know that this decision is only backlashing Mattel and that many people have decided to not buy ANY of Mattel's Avatar products (and some boycotting Mattel all together) because it cries nothing but sexism. Mattel really has taken the fun out of toys with such a narrow minded action. On a last note, look at how well figures and toys of female characters sell in countries like Japan (not just the perverted toys either). Loosen up Mattel and give us our female figures. Please. Or on a last note, since you are Mattel, couldn't you at least release barbie dolls of the said female characters? Thank you for reading this, and please reconsider.
AnonymousNot including Katara and Toph in the Avatar toy line is just plain sexist. There are no pretty corporate words for it. The "Avatar Team" consists of 5 members and two of them are female - and any fan of the show, male or female, would want to play with the whole team. I refuse to buy any of these toys until a full set is released.
Casey
VicsterCome on Mattel, do the right thing!
SavannaSo lame that we cannot find the female characters! We want them ALL! Including Uncle Iroh!
Dawn Holtan
AnonymousI believe that this happens with almost everything that has action figures. *Sigh*
AnonymousCompletely agreed. I can't look at the figure list and not be pissed - come on, nameless fire guy? Battle tanks? What happened to the main freakin' characters?
MarivalI need Katara NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone I know really needs the ENTIRE collection, including me, and it's not fair if you people at Mattel are just too sexist to make Katara, Toph, Azula, Suki.....
kendrick jacksonhi this is kendrick jackson i was just wondering when will the katara and toph action figures will come into the U.S. will it be towards christmas time or in 2009?

Anonymousthe injusticeness of it all!!
Ziginz ZegellMan that bites royaly! For a collector such as myself them not makeing the main female chracters is a joke! I can understand their reasonings but still at least releaseing the figures in limited quntity is better then not at all. I hope to God they make the figures and I will keep searching for them. God bless....
Anonymouswhoever wrote this, u ROCK!!!!!! me and my brother, mom, and sister all feel the same way. my mom even said that should they ever make girl avatar dolls, she would just about buy the entire stock!!! =)

Anonymousdo you think it woul be fair to do that cause i think you r mayjorly racist or somthing so wats up w/ this
DeniseCOME ON!! I LOVE AVATAR AND I'M A GIRL! Plus, the girls on Avatar are a big part of the show. Lots of girls like the show, but they have to use boy action figures if they play with them.
Anonymousi love avatar but it needs its girls if you are reading this it would be ssssooooo- cool to have figures of how zuoko looks now, mai, tia lee.uncle iroh, azula, suki, katara, toph and ZUOKO AND AZULA'S MOM, URSA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AnonymousShame on mattel. Toph and Katara are much loved characters and I am sure a lot of girls and boys would love to play with them. I know I would love to have a Toph doll (even though I can't find one ANYWHERE) It is a shame. The whole toy industry is sexist. I hope this petition helps change that.
joeyI dont understand why they wont make female action figures, I mean if it wasn't for them the show would be nothing! The girls are just as great as the boys. How can u show that the girls are awsome and not even make a figure for them.U know its not just about the guys on the show, its about everyone!I totally agree with this petition,.....so..THERE!!..ha!!!
Sarah F.It's horrible that mattel hasn't made katara, toph, Iroh, Princess Uai, Tao, Haru, Master Paku, and any of the characters in their book 2 and book 3 clothing (ecspecially zuko in book three, yea with hair). Please please make these characters, or at least make katara and toph, they are the best, and i would defidently buy them!
BrianThe female characters are just as awesome as the male characters, and they make up half the cast! I want to buy the entire cast of the show, not half.

AnonymousI would buy Katara, Toph, Mae, Azula, uncle iroh... Tai Lee, Fire Lord Ozi. Why did you release Jet, but none of these?
KevinAvatar has a far greater demographic than the 6-8 year old boys. I work with kids and I've seen a huge variety of kids who love the show, girls and boys from ages 5-17, and myself as well. I love the show and I love the strong female characters and I think they deserve to have toys just as much as the boys.
StephenI refuse to buy any of these toys unless there are female characters.
SharonKatara is a great role model. If she is offered as an action figure choice, an alternative to the all black boys' toy aisles or the all pink girls' aisles, I think lots of kids and adults would choose to buy.

KatelynnKatara and Toph are awesome.they also dont make an Azula,May,Tylee,or a Suki.At least i didnt see them. MORE GIRLS!!!!!! GUYS ARE TAKING OVER!!!!
Mary WhiteisMy family of 5 (3 male, 2 female) all agree there should be female action figures as well. The female characters are our favorites in the series.
Charlette StonerSeriously, 14 Aang figures and not one Katara, Toph, or Azula? We're not talking about bit characters here, these are major characters to the storyline.
