We, the, undersigned represent the Weill Cornell Medical College's Physician Assistant program graduating class of 2006. We, the undersigned, also understand that the Weill Cornell Medical College's Physician Assistant program had it's degree status upgraded from a certificate program to Master's degree status (MSHS-PA) in or around the summer of 2009. We, the undersigned, are also in unanimous agreement that during the course of our training at the Weill Cornell Medical College's Physician Assistant program -- in our case from March 2004 - June 2006 -- we were each of the understanding that when the Weill Cornell Medical College's Physician Assistant program successfully achieved an upgrade in degree status to a Master's degree, all of us who satisfactorily completed the required graduate-level coursework during the time of our attendance would have our certificate upgraded to a Master's Degree through a grandfathering mechanism. We, the undersigned, are also all of the agreement and understanding that we were repeatedly assured of this planned course of action through numerous open and public discussions and announcements made during classtime, led by the director, Gerard Marciano, PA-C, as well as other staff and faculty. Further, we the undersigned, each satisfactorily completed and paid tuition for required graduate-level coursework during our time at the Weill Cornell Medical College's Physician Assistant program, prior to our graduation and in good faith, and which included biostatistics, epidemiology, and an approved research project. Further, we are each of the understanding that the Weill Cornell Medical College's Physician Assistant program designed and required of us this graduate-level coursework in anticipation of the upgrade in degree status. This coursework is the same body of coursework currently required of physician assistant students enrolled in the Weill Cornell Medical College's Physician Assistant program, and who will be awarded their MHSH PA degree upon satisfactory completion of said coursework. Further, it is our (the undersigned's) collective understanding and experience that in the 4+ years since our graduation, we have received no communication from the Weill Cornell Medical College's Physician Assistant program with regard to their successful upgrade to graduate status or plans for the grandfathering of our promised Master's degree. We further attest that replies to inquiries regarding the upgrade of our degrees have been vague and/or unsatisfactory, and/or have suggested that we may be required to do additional coursework to be granted our MSHS-PA. We find this response unacceptable. Since none of us indiviually or collectively have received a satisfactory respnse to our inquiries, we, the undersigned, demand the Weill Cornell Medical College's Physician Assistant program use any and all resources at their disposal to expedite the granting of our MSHS-PA degree through a grandfathering mechanism without delay, and to provide us with consistent and clear communication informing us of progress in this regard. We, the undersigned, have further agreed that failure to execute our MHSH PA degrees as promised will force us to seek legal advice and perhaps take legal action against the Weill Cornell Medical College's Physician Assistant program for breach of contract.
