We the people of Cecil County feel that unless a person is unable to read and write a law enforcement officer should not be allowed to type confessions of any kind. All confessions should either be hand written and signed by the suspects themselves only.If a typed confession is found in the hands of the arresting officer that has not been written and signed by the suspect themselves that arresting officer should face criminal charges. Charges of slander/defamation of character of suspect, false statement, and perjury. If the arresting officer is found guilty beyond reasonable doubt for the typed confession that was not written and signed by the suspect they should face a maximum sentence of five to ten years in prison without parole with no lesser time or punishment for this conduct. We the people of Cecil County also feel that our law enforcement officers should be treated no differently from the criminal element when they break certain laws. The laws should be followed by the citizens as well as our law enforcement officers if an officer breaks the law they should be punished to the fullest extent just like a citizen. We also feel that it is not fair for when we as citizens break the law we are punished to the fullest extent but when an officer breaks the law all that happens to them is a slap on the wrist and let go. What kind of example do we set for our children when law enforcement officers can get away with breaking their own laws? How is it fair that a citizen goes to jail for their crimes and an officer dose not? Well we the People of Cecil County are saying "NO MORE". We feel that now is the time that a law enforcement officers should face their crimes and face the proper punishment when they break their own laws. The fact that they feel that they can get away with typing confessions that the suspect themselves do not write and sign has to stop.
