AnonymousI support Mary's integrity. SBS is vital to our society and should not be commercialised and degraded.
M.B. ScottMs Kostakidis' walkout is a stand made against the regression of the quality and integrity of SBS programming and unwelcome developments in overall policy towards commrtcialism

Melissa WhitingSBS news with Mary Kostakidis at the helm has given me confidence in some of the darkest hours, through the whole East Timor crisis she could belt through a half hour news bulletin like no other, same with Iraq invasion and so many countless other needy moments. She pumps out as many words as could legibily be packed into the time she was given, my heart went out to her because she can do it and she wants to. NEXT TIME THE WORLD COMES CRASHING DOWN AROUND OUR EARS WHO DO YOU WANT TO BE TRYING TO GET IT OVER ON THE BULLETIN? Mary please, oh please let it be Mary.

HarveyWe love you Mary. You represent everything that we dont have on Australian television, as a real voice and communicator. Stan Grant is a shameless, uneducated, reprehensible ladder climber with no concept of the true value and spirit of intelligent broadcasting.
Kati GorgenyiPlease stop interrupting your programs by ads. I have stopped watching SBS because of this.
sharrukina malekSBS should be ashamed of themselves. They are really sinking. I used to watch SBS because it was not commercial and not so left wingged. They are really losing the plot and I support Mary for walking out. I am totally behind her reasons and i am sure that most australians would agree.
rex greensillThe standard of the news readers has fallen away sinc the departure of Mary.
Sue ParkStan Grant is the fish commercial networks rejected.
Rob OprayStan is quite boring to watch I reckon, and the inclusion of advert's during the programming really kill's off any appeal that SBS had over pay-tv. In-between programming adverts was ok. I enjoyed watching SBS news when Mary was anchoring.
AnonymousHow unaustralian it would be of us not to support Mary.
AIDANSBS has changed!!!
David McHutchisonThe increasing commercialisation of SBS is undermining the previous high standard of broadcasting. SBS is inevitably servicing the advertisers rather than the viewer.
Philip MalonePlease bring Mary back and get rid of Shaun Brown who - perhaps because he is not Australian - has happily desecrated on one of Australia's finest institutions.
Bill MurrayOnly found out about this site on way to Europe - just returned attached (if possible) two letters I wrote to SBS about "The Media Tragedy of 2006 - SBS's descent into commercial crapdom It has turned out to be even worse than I imagined then
Nick HeywoodSettle your differences and bring her back - she's the best newsreader on TV, and a quick look at her bio should tell you (SBS) that there's no-one like her. I look forward to her return.
John CoatesI used to watch SBS News regularly. Now, occasionally, I watch it for a few minutes. I have stopped watching regularly because of the change in news reader/s and because of the the intrusion of commercials.
Mark CheneyThe World News without Mary is absolutely not SBS news. Bring back Mary, and with her may come some of the old values that made SBS news so good; that seem now to have disappeared.

AnonymousWe want Mary back. And we want Mary back on her own. Without Mary the standard of news on SBS has really dropped. And she is by far the best interviewer.
Allen EchiverriMary Kostakidis is a national treasure! The quality at World News has dropped since her departure and I will not watch it again until her return!
Zac Smith
zoe szwarcbordabsolutely.
Fiona Cotton
Alex MissirisBring Mary Kostakidis back, SBS should sit and think about actions taken not happy SBS not happy. I
Jean-Marc Le PechouxWhy let Mary go for the misguided sake of wanting to increase ratings and advertising revenue. Pollies must support Public Service Television.
james gardenI grew up with Mary, it was great to have another telivision station to watch. Credibilty, umm, Stan? I don't know.
Tim MoultonShame, SBS, shame!

Virginia HoQuite simply, Mary Kostakidis is a much better news reader than Stan Grant. Both are professional no doubt however there's still differences in their performances and maturity. She should remain as the primary member of the team and she should be treated with respect from her colleagues and employers.

Marie CameronWell done Mary for daring to stand strong! As a nightly watcher of SBS News I saw you physically change, Stan Grant take main stage and I wondered what was goin on. I checked the web and saw that you had engaged Julian Burnside. Janice Peterson is doing really well. Will she be next to be bullied into dullness? Each night I noticed the changes in story direction and editoral. I started to realise that in a broad sense I was being belittled. I saw the 'dads army' piece and picked the trivialized story angle immediately. Thank you for refusing to have us all thought of as 'old codgers'. Thank you for daring to stand seperate to advertising but most of all, thank you for stranding up for the very reasons I consciously choose to watch SBS news. World news with an Australian/Pacific focus with some the best on location reporting I've seen on TV. I.e coverage of Lebanon, Iraq and Afghanistan. For me SBS News has been a daily must. I was proud to see SBS News reporters and journalists take their place right in the centre of the best. For me there have been some great SBS news reporting moments where I have been rivited to the screen totally captivated by the report. To the boy's club that have done their best to get rid of the 'old guard': I smack of each of you accross the back of your silly heads. Reinstate Mary Kostakidis now! SBS is very lucky to have her. Why are you so stupid to not know this?
AnonymousThe obvious problem is the dumbing down of SBS news-previously the best in the country-and for that reason management had to hire a tabloid presenter i.e S. Grant. I can hardly stomach the drivel now presented. Reminds me of an episode at your ABC, the name Shier or similar comes to mind

pat cerniWe want Mary back! Stan Grant lacks her intelligence, her grasp of national and international affairs and her charismatic presence. As an interviewer he is not in the same class as Mary. BRING MARY BACK NOW!
AnonymousI support Mary in this case. Th SBS television is loosing its quality, it has become commercialised and also showing mainly English speaking programs on it. There used to be foreign movies and shows in a 'normal' TV time slot and now, the foreign programs are less and less on TV and if thtey are on the TV, they are pushed to the very late time slot. Insted of a quality shows and films we are being shown a bad taste, stupid comedies with no substance and other shows that are of such a poor quality that we cannot be bothered watching SBS any more.
AnonymousShame on you SBS, Mary is your best asset.
Nicholas & Eliza OrdinansSBS World News had been my our nightly news for many years. We sat and squirmed through the introduction of that 'dail tone' Stan Grant, but have not watched since Mary's departure. May someone, somewhere, appreciate her worth and employ her accordingly.
Joe DiffenBring Mary back and get rid of Stan Grant - he is an embarrassment to watch when he tries to interview someone
AnonymousSBS has lost its integrity. MK is justified on walking out.
Margaret Dahlstrom
Clive ReynoldsSBS's flagship program was its excellent 30 min World News. Mary's loss & the recruitment of Stan grant who tonight was dressed like a Mississippi Riverboat gambler has been catastophic. Now i never watch more than the headlines.
Kaye CampbellI'm a 55 year old Western Australian business woman & am appalled at the treatment of Mary. Mary must be the only person that my husband (who is a creative director) & I agree is the best thing that has happened to TV. Stan Grant is an overbearing, arrogant illiterate & borish person & that other female that reads the news is not only illiterate but has a lisp - nothing against lisps but it's no way to treat our young how to speak & pronounce countries other than their own - my son (now 22) still mis-pronounces words because his pre-primary teacher had a lisp - & she was teaching him ENGLISH. Bring back Mary, bring back some class, bring back the education & class she gave us every night. We miss you. Signed Kaye & Darcy Campbell

AnonymousMy husband and I are incensed by the appalling lack of judgement shown by SBS. Mary is an icon and the SBS half hour news bulletin was the best, with Mary as news reader. Stan Grant comes across as rude and agressive.
Jake Lloyd JonesI have been a Mary Kostikidis fan for over 10 years...Her departure has reduced my interest in SBS news by at least 50%. She is a fantastic newsreader, and hey...Isn't she a 'Honey'? More importantly, people like Mary, are all about quality...When they see something that they've worked hard on, to shape and establish as an 'alternative' to the mainstream, sell out, then they feel pain and anguish....I understand it! The uniqueness of SBS is in its alternate style...But it's starting to become...'homogenous', like the rest of them...Yuk! And as talented as Stan Grant is, and with respect, I'd rather look at and listen to, Mary K, than him! Mary is still 'the best' in the business...and I miss her, terribly! Jake Lloyd Jones
