Comments: I too am disabled (SSI and Medicaid) and therefore am subjected to living the rest of my life alone because of the way the requirements are for folks like us. It's hard enough barely existing as we do and then to have to know that the rest of your life there is no way to improve it or be happy with someone you love. I feel at times there is no reason to go on, can't make up my mind to just get the misery over with or not. I'm 54 and have been living this nightmare for almost ten years, there's just no hope in sight, I was short one credit to be able to get on regular SS disability. Now I understand that when I do finally die, the State will get all my assets to pay them back for the "wonderful" life they afforded me.

Comments: she should be able to keep all benefits after all if she didnt need it she wouldnt be recieving it.its unfair that there are so many people who dont need benefits get them and the ones that do seem to be the ones who lose it.i think she and you should be able to get married and still be able to keep her insurance.may god bless the both of you.

Comments: Our Government needs to be reformed. People being penalised for marrying while on SSD or SSI is just plain crazy. They live on so little as it is..

Comments: i am 23 years old and paralyzed from the waste down. i am on ssi and disability. i do get medicaid. i have been with my fiance for going on three years now and we want so badly to get married but if we did the lovely government would take away my checks and insurance and he has a decent job but we could never ever afford my medical bills or to pay both of our bills on just his income. i think it is ridiculous and prejudice towards the disabled. we are honest people that arent trying to cheatr the government. i thought the governement was suppose to stand for everyone not leave people behind. they can sure support people who keep poppin kids out or had out welfare checks to people who just go blow it on drugs and alcohol.

Comments: I wholly agree with this. I am also using this petition to highlight my own on this site. Dialysis patients in the UK are not entitled to the same benefits as those who are considered disabled. Please sign my petition as I think this is wrong and needs to be addressed. I am a dialysis patient myself and I have been affected by this ruling and have no extra assistance from the government. My petition can be found at www.ipetitions.com/petition/renalparkingrights Thank you.

Comments: My daughter is disabled and has met a nice young man who loves her. I don't know if it will progress to marriage but it's so unfair to deny someone who has always had a difficult time in life where happiness might be right around the corner, and it's not reachable because of a law which is so prejudice against her.

Comments: I agree, this is not fair. My fiance is on SSI himself and has several problems going on with him including seizures, mini--strokes as well a basil artery migraines and only one trip to the doctor or hospital when he needs us would put us into so much debt that we wouldn't be able to pay for it. This isn't fair, we've been together for 8 years now and it makes me cry every night to know that I cannot marry the man I love, it's not gay marriage. The SSI office tells me that because I'm not on disability I should be able to make enough money for both of us, how is that fair? I can't make all the money in the relationship, that's not fair on me or him, it puts him in a position thinking he's useless because he can't help me with the money problems. This needs to stop NOW! It's not fair to do this to these people, no one is trying to trick the system, we are in love and in the bible and the constitution it speaks of how a man and woman should be able to get married, then why put us in a hole like this.
