Comments: He is a wonderful person and student. There are flaws in the US Immigration system and scholars should not be subjected to the same policies. He is searching for education and should be allowed to continue his journey in the US.

Comments: To deport Mark Farrales is unethical and works directly against the principles this country was founded upon. As a fellow graduate student at UC San Diego, I am grateful to have Mark as a colleague. His particular life experience helps to add a much needed global and ethnic perspective to the American academy.

Comments: ICE is capable of more. DHS leadership and President Obama owe the American people an explanation for a noticeable shift in detention and removal enforcement. Is a policy of quotas really making America safer or are we encouraging ICE field personnel to go after the low hanging fruit that is easiest to track down, such as Mark? Bad policies often lead to bad outcomes. Keep Mark here; we should welcome talented individuals that overcome unimaginable hardships as mascots for the American Dream - not put punish them. Use this private bill as a way to ignite a larger debate on immigration reform, a bipartisan issue that we've all failed to address, and must if we want to continue to keep America globally competitive and culturally enriching. Grant Mark Farrales asylum.

Comments: Many of my direct family did not seek a higher education because of fear of persecution. They found complacency in drugs and barbed wired slums I call my home, and this is the United States. Mind you, Mark came from much less and got farther than many of us could ever dream of.
