Name: Gordon C. Shaw on Jan 17, 2007Comments: The Marine Musuem of the Great Lakes at Kingston is the only such museum on the Canadian side of the Great Lakes. It preserves the history of Canadian Great Lakes shipping, the dry bulk portion of which porduced more ton-miles of shipping than did Canadian Pacific Railway until recent years. T"his musuem is a national treasure and in adddition preserves a heritage site within a heritage city, Kingston. The Musuem contains a treasure of marine records and papers, the only collection of its kins. The museum must stay at its current site indefiniely. Gordon C. ShawFlag

Name: Arthur M. Norris, B.A., M.Ed. on Jan 17, 2007Comments: That this matter has not been resolved at this late date is scandalous. The property is a designated National Historic Site that has been improved through millions of dollars, of cash, materials and 10,000 of hours of labour by it numerous volunteers.Flag

Name: Marion Rubens on Jan 18, 2007Comments: I can not believe that the City would be so irresponsible to consider closing the Museum as we know it. Where is their sense of support and community. As a Kingstonian I am proud of our local hertiage. Shame on the administrators that are taking part in this act!Flag

Name: Andrew Wollin on Jan 18, 2007Comments: I strongly support the efforts to keep the Marine Museum as a resource for the Kingston area and the Shipping fans that visit from across the world. It is a unique tourist destination that should be developed as part of a complex of museums and historic sites that serve as a continuing draw for tourists around the world to Kingston.Flag

Name: Ralph Alan Shaw on Jan 18, 2007Comments: While I do appreciate the Ciy's need for 'fiscal responsibility' and I do understand the impact of 'fiscal imbalance across different levels of government', I hope and pray the Marine Museum will not fall victim to such a short-sighted long-lasting 'remedy' before more appropriate long-term sustainable funding solutions - even now being developed - are brought into play. Please, take a deep breath and think creatively!Flag

Name: Carolyn Barnett on Jan 18, 2007Comments: I think it's already disgusting that our lakefront heritage is being eroded. It has already started to disappear thanks to Block D. As someone who has seen a lot of other waterfront Cities including Toronto (bad) and Chicago (good) I know we must preserve our lakefront beauty and history.Flag

Name: Brian Johnson on Jan 18, 2007Comments: Where else could the marine museum be located The former Kingston Shipyard with its wealth of history and now the museum site MUST BE PRESERVED!! It is so important to support the hard work the late Audrey Rushbrook and Barbara Carson started in the late 60's. And continued by Maurice Smith when he rescued artefacts which would have been lost. The Museum MUST STAY IN PRESENT LOCATIONFlag

Name: John Colwell on Jan 18, 2007Comments: Kingston's waterfront, geographic significance for the world's fresh water supply( The Great Lakes) and historic heritage to Canada should be celebrated and protected as a critical component of who we are and how we got here. Any Kingstonian who does not recognize the responsibility the City and the region should bear for this should be ashamed. Wake up to our role as gatekeeper to this very important region of the world... these are not assets to be squandered.Flag
