We, the members of Maranatha Church in Belleville Ontario agree with the decisions of Classis Quinte regarding Pastor John Visser, staff and Council. We agree that Pastor John Visser should be deposed from the office of Minister of the Word and Sacraments in the CRCNA on the following grounds; That with malicious intent he broke the sacred vow of confidentiality when he disclosed personal and private matters that were entrusted to him and for the offense of Abuse of Office in that he created, directed and participated in Healing Ministry that placed people at risk. We further agree that the Council of Maranatha were the ones who were responsible for imposing this discipline and for supervising their pastor. Since they have chosen not to follow the directives of Classis we direct all Council members to step down and for a new Council to be elected. We also direct that the new Council provide honorary suspension to its other Healing Ministry Staff, and allow Classis Quinte to appoint an accredited team to evaluate the principles, polices, and practices of the Healing Ministry on the grounds that people continue to be at risk.
