MANIFESTO OF SUPPORT
An Endorsement to Make Ricardo F. de Leon President of MSU
The campus environment is alive, the academic field is excelling, the facilities are growing and there is alumni confidence. This prevailing state of the Mindanao State University is a stark contrast to previous regimes of stagnation and gridlock. Progress in all areas has finally come in less than two years.
Now, more than ever, it is imperative for the stakeholders - the national government, the local community, alumni, faculty and students - to preserve the gains earned. There is still much to be done. And there had been losses still to recover, mistakes to rectify and failures to address. It is necessary that they all work hand in hand to see to their end.
Recognizing all these, we, the alumni, former students, friends, academic and administrative staff of the MSU System, affirm and express the following:
FIRST, we shall continue to uphold the government's policy declaring universal and affordable education a national priority;
SECOND, we shall continue to support the Commission on Higher Education's thrust to strengthen the tertiary level in the education spectrum in aid of that policy;
THIRD, we shall commit to participate actively in consolidating the gains earned and to bind ourselves together in helping the present university administration achieve its Vision 20/20 plan as MSU approaches its golden anniversary in 2011;
FOURTH, we shall be forever indebted to the incumbent President of the Philippines for her timely wisdom to appoint an Acting President whose unparalleled dedication and indefatigable drive to transform MSU into a world class learning institution are an endless source of inspiration to all sectors of the constituency;
FIFTH and FOREMOST, in view of the above, we strongly endorse and support the change of appointment of Dr. RICARDO F. DE LEON from acting to permanent President of Mindanao State University to enable him to continue with the various reforms - governance, academic and financial - that he has successfully initiated in furtherance of the ideals and mandated mission of the university.
So affirmed in solidarity this 15th day of July 2007, with prayers that this Manifesto of Support be duly recognized and that the endorsement be favorably acted upon by the President of the Philippines, Mdme. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
