This is a petition to mandate the public registration of those that have been guilty of offenses deemed extremely violent. The purpose of this registration isnot for simple assault cases or past fights, but for extremely violent criminal acts, consistent domestic abuse, and cases involving child abuse. Thousands of women and children are injured and killed every year because they are unaware of the violent history of many of their neighbors, associates, and even those they bring into their homes. The purpose of this bill is to increase awareness and public safety, and to protect the children of New Jersey.
