Name: Jane Samuels on Jan 16, 2013Comments: The old fire station has been in its current state for all of my adult life. It is one of the most beautiful and interesting buildings we have. Having lost so many in manchester to a forest of mediocre glass and tiled buildings, we aught to treasure this one. Instead, its been allowed to sit and rot-the first thing many visitors to our city see. its time for manchester council to recognise the gems we have left, and to treat them as such.Flag

Name: Roy Chapman on Jan 17, 2013Comments: I agree fully with your efforts. As a young man I can remember London Road as the vibrant HQ of the City Fire Brigade and later as the GM Fire Service HQ. As one of the most handsome buildings in our city - and a city that has lost so many of its inconic building - this one MUST be saved. Would it be possibel to contcat the Greater Manchester Fire Servcie Museum and Rochdale and arrange a reprint of the excellent book by BOb Bonner on LOndon Road. Bob still works at the Museum as a violunteer - but retired as Divisional Officer for Rochdale. RoyFlag

Name: Andy on Jan 17, 2013Comments: It's not just the Fire Station, it's the whole area. There's Mayfield Railway Station that has lay empty since 1987 with promise after promise that something would be done with it. It's still there and all that's happened is a granting of permission to demolish it. It too is a listed building. Manchester City Council are not interested in any area of the city centre which doesn't attract tourists. LRFS has only started to get noticed because of campaigns like this and, conveniently, Network Rail's plans to expand Piccadilly Railway Station. If and when this happens then The Star and Garter and Mayfield Railway Station - both listed buildings - will be removed to make way for it, and the council will bask in the reflected glory of "saving" LRFS.Flag

Name: Andrew Parker on Jan 17, 2013Comments: It a disgrace how long this has gone on for leaving a fine building in a complete disgrace. Not only should a CPO be awarded, but Manchester City Council should be awarded compensation to cover the cost of the last attempted CPO since Britannia have lied in regards to any redevelopment of the building.Flag

Name: Joe Stein on Jan 18, 2013Comments: To leave Piccadilly and to see this empty and deteriorating building like this is simply unacceptable. There is so much potential being lost. It should not be a storage unit for Britannia. Its being used in this tragic way is unforgivable.Flag

Name: Valeska Matziol on Jan 18, 2013Comments: I've long been saddened at the increasingly dilapidated state of the old Fire Station without realising the reasons behind this. Surely it can't be impossible to move beyond the totally unacceptable status quo and give Manchester residents back the use of this important landmark? It's our city - let's stand up for it!Flag

Name: IAN CAMPBELL on Jan 21, 2013Comments: I used to live in Manchester and left in 1995. i visit Manchester on business at least once a month staying in City Centre Hotels. What a blot this London Road Fire station is. On one of the major routes into Manchester by road or Train in devalues the city of Manchester the way it looks. If the City or the owners had consideration or thoughts for the City, something would be done by return. This site could be a real eye-opener to the City.Flag

Perhaps the council should return to court and get the CPO verdict overturned?Flag
