We, the members of the Malvern Vale Residents Group and those who reside on or near the Malvern Vale estate, petition Worcestershire County Council to re-consider, and approve, the original plans for a 210 place primary school to be built on the allocated plot on our estate. Facts & Figures. • The estimate is that there are currently 200 children aged 0-4, as well as a further 200 of primary school age, living on Malvern Vale. By 2017, the number of primary school children here is expected to increase to over 350, and by 2020, to almost 400. • If the school is not built, the land is handed back to Persimmon who will build more houses meaning there is likely to be yet more children who will struggle to find a place at a local school. • Within 3 years, if not sooner, Somers Park, Northleigh and St. Josephs will not have the capacity to cope with Malvern Vale’s children, resulting in parents having to travel further, increasing the traffic on local roads and will inevitably lead to siblings attending different schools. A situation we all want to avoid. • Concerns about parking have been raised. The hope is that with it being a community school, the majority of children will live within walking distance. But if not, the YMCA will kindly allow parents to use the 50 space community centre car park next to the allocated school plot. • We have our local county councillor on board, John Raine, who is fighting our corner at County Hall, in Worcester. • We need this school to turn our estate into a proper community. The community that we were all promised when we moved here. Please show us your support and lets show those at County Hall how serious we all are about the development of Malvern Vale Primary School.
