Making Amtrak more accessible to bicycle travelers.

I am starting this petition to show Amtrak and Washington legislatures, that there is a large group of cyclist that want to use train travel and also bring their bike.

At the amtrak website (http://www.amtrak.com/bring-your-bicycle-onboard), there are only 8 trains listed that show walk-on bicycle accommodations with most trains having 6 or less bicycle slots available and one with the most of 8 bicycle slots. Our other option is to box our bike...this requires mechanical skills, difficulty in transporting a large cumbersome box, and may not be an option at all locations.

If Amtrak would initiate a bike friendly policy to most of their trains, can you imagine the impact on getting cyclist to the distant locations that they dreamed of cycling at affordable costs and with their bikes? The dream is still there, being able to integrate the rails and bicycle adventures.

Lets replace the missing caboose with a cycleboost.

Please sign this petition to change the token response of Amtrak to the cycling community. I am asking for 100,000 signatures.

Thank you,

Cycal

1 year ago Comments: Great pictures. I have taken that trip on the Empire Builder about 4 years ago. Three of my close frdneis and I began our trip in Portland, went to LA and had an overnight layover before proceeding on the Sunset Ltd. through Texas, and on to New Orleans. Had another overnight layover and proceeded the next morning, continuing our trip through the southern states, ending up in New York where we spent a week with another friend. Then time to come home, we left New York and went on into Upstate New York (beautiful trip) , to Chicago where we boarded the Empire Builder for the trip home. It was fun to travel the country by train . going the southern route to NY, then home via the Northern route. Colors were beautiful in the fall, the train was comfortable and the food was great. Have to say out of all the different transfers we made, the Empire Builder is definitely a class act . Thanks for sharing your pictures. http://lzyzjnqrmnh.com mcztvgpgogs cdiwukwt
