I am writing this petition for my sister Areda Dailey.

My sisters beloved pet Pomeranian was murdered by a neighbors dog in her own back yard. The neighbor had been warned on numerous occasions to fix their fence and to keep their 2 pit bull terriers detained in their own yard. My sister was in her front yard and heard her little dog yelping in the back yard upon running into the back yard she witnessed her Pomeranian being shaken viciously by the neighbors pit bull and the two pit bulls were playing tug of war with her baby. The city of Grand Rapids needs to be more serious with how they deal with individuals who do not respect the leash and containment laws within the city. This could have been prevented with the proper measures being taken to properly detain the 2 large dogs that even the owner of said dogs would not approach the attack. Upon the pit bulls finally letting go of the 7 pound pom she was still alive but the pit bulls were attempting to return to my sisters yard where she had rushed to place a patio table when the dogs retreated and was holding it in place with her foot and the owner of the pit bulls stood doing absolutely nothing to aid her in preventing the pit bulls from reentering her yard. This is not about the pit bull breed it is about owners who are not responsible and the city not holding them responsible for their actions or the actions or their animals.

My sisters pom was not meerly a family pet she was amember of the family and is now dead thanks to the ignorance of the owners of the 2 pit bulls and the city for not following through on warnings of fines if the fence were not fixed and the dogs detained.
