I believe that the City of Dundee would be an outstanding choice for the UK City of Culture in 2017. Dundee already has a vibrant arts and cultural scene with Dundee Rep, the DCA, the McManus, the Caird Hall, the Whitehall Theatre, the Gardyne Theatre, the Little Theatre, Discovery Point, the Verdant Works, Sensation, a vibrant amateur dramatic sector, a vibrant music sector, our educational establishments promoting culture and all of this before the V & A at Dundee opens. The V & A at Dundee will surely be the icing on the cake for the city of Dundee and having this great British institution in our city must enhance Dundee’s claim to be the UK City of Culture.

Johnny Reeve, United Kingdom2 years ago Comments: I came to Dundee in 1997 to study architecture and have ended up staying and settling here! I was graduated, baptised, married, made a father in Dundee. I love the city and it has transformed hugely since i first came here. It has all the buzz and facilities of a big city, but is small enough to always bump into someone you know. Dundee has great pubs, clubs and restaurants. I love the west end, the cultural quarter & DCA, Broughty Ferry Beach, local clubs where you can play sport in a friendly environment, brill university, the church I attend, driving on riverside when the water is still and you can see the lights from newport and wormit casting vertical reflection lines down the tay, and not to mention the institution of the 24hr bakery! I am really excited about how Dundee is continuing to transform and can't wait to see how the waterfront and V&A are going to turn out. I am lucky to live here and am excited to be bringing up children in a 21st century Dundee.
