We have to rely on conscription. The current period of full time National Service for 2 years and reservist and remedial training is necessary to maintain our capability. The requirement cannot be shortened.
This obligation should be reserved for male citizens only.
I support maintaining the current arrangements for National Service.

The defense of our nation is not a playground for social experiments or political posturing. Weakening our readiness for the sake of convenience is a betrayal of our sovereignty and I will not stop pushing back until the policymakers realize that our current security structure is non-negotiable.

Many countries train their conscripts in less than 1 year. We are wasteful and inefficient, because Singaporeans are too compliant.
Alert, Read carefully!!! This petition is to MAINTAIN STATUS QUO for NATIONAL SERVICE. Not the Tan Kin Lian PETITION!
1 year can do alot of things, private diploma/degree, jobs and income. Please support.
If there are people who want to maintain NS, NS should be made optional. Those who want status quo can just apply for it then. Everyone gets a choice, everyone wins. Right
2 years is already too short.stil want to shorten the time to 1 year.it's real crazy.

Not much interest shown by Singaporeans! Guess it is a safe and peaceful island state. Living overseas and looking back we all have changed in our mindset. However, as we get older, citizens like us do not have any more say in how to run the state affairs. Even I am not treated as an old citizen I have very faithful and loyal friends, families, and Singaporeans I have helped with money and time that Singapore is home to them and their generations. So, let us keep the National Service as it is and hopefully we can reach 10,000 signatures. It only takes less than 10 minutes to think, write and sign this petition if you call Singapore your home!
