We have come to learn that on March 30th, 2011 legendary Bogota Basketball Coach Jay Mahoney resigned from coaching basketball at BHS.

Coach's resignation comes about after multiple meetings recently with the BHS administration stemming from an incident where Coach Mahoney said some inappropirate things to another coach at BHS. None of us condone these actions but we strongly believe that Jay was handed a very harsh punishment and is being indirectly forced to resign. We also believe that Coach has done 500X more good than bad for the many students and athletes he has worked with over the years. He is far from perfect but has always cared very deeply about his students and players.

Coach Mahoney brings passion, knowledge, and caring to Bogota High School. His old school ways, which may not always be politically correct, are appreciated by all of his students and players because Coach does a great job in helping you prepare for your career beyond BHS.

This petition serves the purpose of supporting Coach Jay Mahoney with the hope that the BHS adminsitration will give him the ability to walk the sidelines again as the head basketball coach of BHS... BHS is a better place with Coach in the classroom and on the sidelines!
