Marijuana got its height in the 1960's, hemp has been researched and can be made into textiles, biodegradeble materials, and other commercial goods. Yet, these are illegal. It is a proven fact that marijuana is less worse than smoking and drinking. Plus, despite the law people will grow, sell, buy, and smoke it. You might as well make it legal. Plus Marijuana and hemp alike can be Kentucky's number ONE, cash crop. Some people say that if you smoke marijuana, that it can lead to the use of harder drugs. This can only happen if you try the harder drugs. Parents may come to you talking about how marijuana degrades the community, family values, and the like. Gangs and Illegal drug trafficking happen because of marijuana and hemps illegal status. If you made them legal, illegal trafficking would go down and possibly street crime. Now, some states like California are making medicinal marijuana legal. There is going to be people that will ruin their own health just to get some(this is unlikely because nobody can be that stupid.) or they will fake doctor notes. Might as well make it legal. Not to mention that making marijuana and hemp legal can create jobs. Farmers to grow it, factory workers to process it, and other jobs. Even President Barack Obama said theat the war on drugs is a failure. These are just some things to reflect on. Consider this, andd what ever is done everyone who signs this petition will respect the decision.
