If you are in the Yorkson area of Willoughby walking up 209A Street and crossing 83rd street to get to school you should be concerned about the safety of your child getting to school safely. You may notice that there is no crosswalk to get to Lynnn Fripps safely when walking up 209A Street and crossing 83rd street. Most people coming from 209A Street are crossing the road in an area that people can drive 50 km/hr. The township has designated an area to walk on 83rd street but no one wants to walk in that area because there is no sidewalk. We are all left to jwalk across the road to a sidewalk on the other side of 83rd street. I have asked the township of langley to place a sidewalk in front of the property of 20987 83rd Street. This property is up for developement and I've been told they will not make any changes until the property has been developed. You'll also notice that the school zone sign, when approaching the school from 209A on 83rd, starts right at the school. So not only are we jwalking but drivers approaching us as we illegally crossing the street are allowed to drive 50 km/hr. If you would like to see a sidewalk placed in front of 20987 83rd street or a crosswalk installed for us to cross safely to 83rd, from 209A Street) as well as the school zone to start further down 83rd then please sign the petition. This is for the safety of our children walking by themselves to school as well as for yourself and your child if you're walking them to and from school.
