Name: Andrea Gunn on Feb 19, 2007Comments: This motion, if successful, will be paid for directly Kingston taxpayers, who will have to take on immediately the burden of a half-finished project plus tens of millions of dollars in law suits against the city. Businesses will leave Kingston and we will have a very expensive hole in the ground and no sports, arts and entertainment centre to show for it. This motion is sheer lunacy.Flag

Name: Kyal McCallum on Feb 19, 2007Comments: This is a project that will provide a legacy for the city. As the father of two young boys, this is a project that will define the city as either the place to be or not to be. The decision has already been made. Please respect the decision of voted members of the previous council.Flag

Name: Sharon Harrison on Feb 19, 2007Comments: To cancel the LVEC at this point in time is the stupidest thing that I have ever heard of from the Kingston Council. I have been in Kingston (from Ottawa) for over 13 years and I have yet to see a united council. You would get a lot more done if you would work together instead of working against each other.Flag

Name: Rob Wood on Feb 19, 2007Comments: This motion indicates a clear misunderstanding of the economics of this project, let alone the need and potential community benefits. There is a difference between a flat expenditure (like the police station) and an investment, which has a direct return that pays for itself. Council would be rejecting the opportunity for users attending events at the facility to pay for it, putting all costs on the taxpayer's back. I just don't get your logic, Council! I think you're being very irresponsible.Flag

Name: Jean Bedard, Q.C. on Feb 19, 2007Comments: This council was elected with a mandate to manage the growth agenda of the City at a pace that taxpayers would be more comfortable with, not with a mandate to turn the clock back, squander Kingston's reputation for years to come and leave us with a multi-million dollars bill with nothing to show for. Mission Control to spaceship "Kingston City Council": Something has gone wrong with your oxygen supply. You need to come back to earth ASAP!Flag

Name: David And Sharon Cowan on Feb 19, 2007Comments: We cannot hear of this motion being put forward to council without expressing our absolute and total oppostition to considering the cancellation of the LVEC at this point. In 2, 5, or 10 years the irrepairable harm to the City, Jobs, Taxpayers, industry and Commerce will be so severe that the Downtown core of the city will appear as Ghost like as other Cities nearby who have stifled development. Some of those Cities have sruggled for 3 decades in an attempt to correct short sighted thinking. David and Sharon CowanFlag

Name: Paul Watts on Feb 19, 2007Comments: We should start a petition to have these two people taken off city council. I am so tired of listening to these two people who would rather live in the 20 century than the 21st century. To hear people talk around the country about what a joke this issue has become is no longer funny. I have had dealing with Hockey Canada and they just laugh at the fact that this city can't make a decision and stick to it. I am not in favour of the location but that is where they decided to put it so let's get it done and get on with other things. If they thought that a major project like this one was going to go up for 41 million and change they obviously don't know the construction industry. Suffice it to say. they should have quoted 50 million to make up for the changes or alterations that were going to happen. City council's job now should be to look for a high profile sales person to fill all the event nights we are going to need. Many ThanksFlag
