We want to urge the current Government to reduce the cost of fuel and put a stop to continued increases in fuel prices. There is a proposed fuel duty as of April this year, this, coupled with the VAT rise, will be 4 increases to the price of a litre of fuel in the last few months. The price of a litre of petrol is set to be £1.40 and in our local area we have seen an increase of 10p per litre in the last week. Some people have to commute to work using their car as public transport is not convenient or viable. Those of us that have no choice but to buy fuel in order to get to work should not continue to be so unfairly penalised. As a working mother of two, I cannot afford to lose my job simply because I cannot put petrol in the tank. This is unfortunately what the immediate future will hold for myself and I suspect many others. When fuel costs hit £1 per litre we all lobbied the Government to cap the increases as we were struggling to afford it. It is now almost 50% more than this and yet no-one is doing anything about it. We are a democracy, the people have and can use their voice so let's speak out against this, as we are not a dictatorship!!!! What legacy are we leaving our children? The current Government are preparing to commit an additional 13.5% in International aid when our own country is not stable and unemployment continues to rise. Let's invest in Great Britain first, before we over commit financial aid to other countries. When Great Britain is secure, then let us look to help neighbouring countries. At this moment we should be looking to securing our homeland and once great again, we will be in a better position to help many others without detriment to ourselves. Enough is enough!!! ;
