The UK’s leading fuel card reseller, The Fuelcard Company, has launched a national petition among commercial vehicle drivers calling for ministers to lower fuel tax and support the transport industry.
The campaign entitled ‘Don’t Fleece Our Fleet’ will be taken across the UK in a nation-wide tour of the country’s biggest truck-stops to raise awareness and generate support for the fleet industry which has seen its operating costs rocket following several fuel tax hikes.
With Government duty totalling 75% of the current cost of fuel and a further 1.75p tax hike scheduled before January 2011, it's more important than ever to help companies who run any vehicles. This comes in addition to an increase in VAT from 17 to 20 percent, which is expected to have a devastating effect on the fleet industry with many businesses struggling to stay afloat.
The petition will call on the Government to lower fuel tax, or freeze it at its current level, before the UK fleet industry suffers irreparable damage.

Comments: Lowering fuel cost in the UK will also help others to follow suit around the world. Delivery by fleets cost trickles down to every consumer in the world including the US which is where I live. Everyone taxes fuel and gets a piece of the pie and I am tired of being taxed to fund everyone but me.

Comments: im not a driver but my partner is, and times are hard enouh without putting more on fuel. the goverment dont have to cut corners themselfs as they can claim there car running costs back, unlike every other person who cannot put in claims to get their money back.
