The exam board confirmed they have adjusted the grade boundaries for the Chemistry Unit 4 exam. This change reflects the feedback submitted regarding the paper structure. I will continue to monitor the final grade releases to ensure these adjustments are applied correctly to all candidate results.
The chemistry unit 4 exam had more application questions than actual content. It did not contain the usual topics that came up in previous years such as mechanisms, buffers, etc. Many questions were vague. Overall this exam was way too difficult compared to previous years and deserves lower grade requirements.
We are approaching the one thousand signature mark which provides the leverage needed to present our formal case to the examination board. Please direct this link to students across other chemistry cohorts immediately so we reach this threshold before I submit the evidence file.

This exam was a farce compared to previous years, arbitrarily making it harder just because AQA is switching to a new format is not justified in any way and we shouldn't be the ones who have to suffer because of their need for metrics and data

The fact that there was so many short answer question and one 9 MARK question is very unfair. To my knowledge there has never been a 9 mark question on proton n.m.r so there was no way of revising for it or knowing what the examiner was looking for.

My daughter has put so much time and effort into revising for this chemistry exam. To come home and find her curled up in a ball completely inconsolable because the months of revision that she did were irrelevant to this paper was heartbreaking.

The topics were in the wrong order which put everyone off and equilibria, full mechanisms and buffers did not come up. Also, most of us were short for time due to the confusing suggest questions and there was a difficult 9 marker on NMR right at the end.

Absolutely shocked and apalled at the content of the edexcel A level chemistry unit 4 paper this year. With such variance in the difficulty of the exams year on year, how can an A level qualification be worth the same every year, as it should be?

After doing every past paper on the current and previous specification, I found this paper was much more difficult and not very similar to other papers. Large areas such as buffers and acid-base reactions were missed out unlike any other paper!

Way too hard, and the fact my daughters college wasn't even informed about the question it was a student who spotted it!! My daughter wasted valuable time on this question whereas a neighbouring college was informed at the beginning of the exam to leave out the question giving them an advantage in not wasting time on it, so unfair!!!

My daughter was distraught yesterday after sitting this exam! She has worked so hard and now her place at Leeds Uni looks to be in jeopardy, do the right thing AQA for all these students who actually have dreams and ambition.... lower the grade boundaries!!
