The U.S. Declaration of Independence CLEARLY states that every single U.S. citizen -men and women- have the right to pursue Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. However, our very own government is taking this away from us when certain people are not allowed to marry. Only 6 states allow us to pursue those rights, and even then we have specific guidelines outside of said states.

As a people, we have the right to Redress of Grievances, which means we have the freedom to petition our government for a correction of this injustice. Proposition 8 states that "only a marriage between a man and woman is valid or recognized in California". This restricts the definition of marriage between the opposite sex, which is not true.

Marriage: a social union or legal contract between individuals that creates kinship.

We are all equal. Black, White, Straight, or Gay. Who says that just because you love someone of the same sex you can't get married? Why do people of different races get more rights than they do? Isn't this country a symbol of hope? Of FREEDOM? Then please, someone explain to me why our government is supressing our rights.

Ever since this country was founded people have been fighting for their rights. The fight continues today still, and it's a fight we shouldn't have. Our rights have been stated and are unchangable. Now it's time for the government to accept it.

The fight ends now.
