Thank you to everyone who signed our petition to ensure we keep a pool in Brooklyn Bridge Park. We've had over 1500 petition signers (including the 750+ people who have signed paper petitions at the pool)!
Through this petition we were successful in securing 2 additional summers for families at the Pop-Up Pool (Summer 2017 & Summer 2018). And in June 2018, the Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation announced that we would indeed get a permanent pool in the adjacent Squibb park with a targeted opening date of 2020.

We're grateful to the Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation and our elected officials for coming together and paving a creative path towards a permanent solution. Many thanks also to this community who pulled together on behalf of tens of thousands of swimmers each summer to keep a pool in Brooklyn Bridge Park.

We just hit one thousand signatures and my heart is full. I keep thinking about how many kids will get to learn to swim because so many of you refused to let this space disappear.

Seeing one hundred people sign this in just the first few days feels surreal because this pool has been such a vital part of my own children growing up here. It is heartening to know so many of you value this space as much as my family does.

Because of its manageable size, this is only pool in NYC where I feel comfortable taking my own children AND their friends. I am always able to see all of the children at once and safety is number one for me. Please keep it open!
This pool is used by a diverse group of families from across the full scope of Brooklyn and beyond. It is important for children to learn water safety skills, and this pool enables that.
This pool provides a great service to families in the area who can not afford to take their children on vacation or put them in a costly summer camp. Please keep it open!
This is one of the best features of the park in the summer. The importance of the pool to the people of Brooklyn can be seen by the lines waiting to get wristbands every weekend. There is nothing similar nearby and, quite frankly, there are plenty of areas of grass/landscaping in the park as it is (and plans for many more).
Save the pool! Or start opening the hydrants for the kids like the old days. Theses kids growing up in apartments need to stay cool in the summer. They don't have the luxury of pools in their backyard. Don't tease them with one and then take it away!

We were promised a permanent pool since 2018 to be completed in time for the 2020 session. But what we got is no pool for 5 years since the pop-up closed after the summer 2018 session. Nothing has been said about any future plans, as if a promise was never made. BQE is an excuse, not a reason.
