The council finally confirmed that The Public will remain a resource for our community instead of being turned into a college. This has been a long and draining struggle but seeing our space protected makes every bit of the fight worth it. Thank you for staying with me through the …
LearnPlay Foundation, based within The Public, employ up to 200 local young apprentices. One of the reasons we chose The Public as a venue was because it was the only place in the Black Country that would directly allow our young people to work alongside internationally renowned artists and provide them with an aspirational pathway.
On 9 May 2013 Sandwell Council announced that they are talking to Sandwell College about turning The Public into a Sixth Form College. We the undersigned, want The Public to remain as a valuable community, cultural, digital and learning resource that everyone can use.

The council remains silent regarding our concerns despite the mounting gravity of this situation. I am exhausted by the lack of transparency but we are not going anywhere.

This place is the only thing we have that actually offers something for the kids around here. Don't turn it into another boring college.
