I put my children on the bus this morning at 9:50. I went about my morning and was about to leave for work when the phone rang at 11:40 (almost 2 hours after I put my kids on the bus). It was an AUTOMATED message from Harmony Intermediate School telling my daughter was not at school. I instantly panicked as not only was the school system on a delay due to snow in the area but we also had a substitute bus driver. I instantly called the school to see if in fact my daughter was there. I was put on hold for 3 1/2 minutes (becoming more panicked) and then was told a few busses had gotten stuck. They weren't really sure who, what, where, when but told me the busses that were stuck were on route. I then called Loudoun County Dept of Transportation and was told that all schools were called and told of exactly what busses were stuck due to the snow, oh an by the way this man was not very friendly as I am beside myself worried about my kids. I finally got in touch with one of my kids and was told at 12:10 that a truck was finally showing up to pull them out. They sat on a bus for over 2 hours and no call to the parents to tell them what is going on. But a message and email that my daughter wasn't in school. Is it me or is this totally unacceptable? This has happened more than once. I am asking for Loudoun County Public Schools and The Virginia Department of Transportation work together in Western Loudoun County so this doesn't happen again.
