Name: Kevin Neill on Dec 7, 2007Comments: Lorne Ave. is much more than just a school. It provides a hub for many services in the area, and makes multiple uses of a building which would otherwise be grossly underutilized. Old East does not need another empty building to be sacrificed to the vandals who cause the negative stereotypes of our neighbourhood to persist.Flag

Name: Graham Waddell on Jan 10, 2008Comments: Lorne Avenue Public School is unique in many ways. It has more services than most schools, and really helps anchor the culture of the East-of-Adelaide community. I fear this will not longer be a community of families if the school is closed or "re-purposed." LOOK AHEAD, beyond our current situation. MAYBE it is not full right now. How much will it cost to build or expand later, I ask you Keep Lorne Ave open. Keep kids in school. Keep our family together.Flag

Name: Dawn MacIntosh on Feb 7, 2008Comments: Lorene Ave school is a great school. It doesn't make sense to close the school and remodel an other school to fit all the students in. The issue of sending small children over the Quebec street overpass is also a great concern for most parents. Some of the programs in Lorne Ave are very unique and I am afraid that with the students changing schools, they will lose many of these programs.Flag

Name: Christine Paul on Feb 10, 2008Comments: I can't believe what I hear. Why would you take the one school where the east community comes together I went to that school in the 70's, my niece as well as my great niece also attended Lorne Ave. The school does have alot to offer. It's a known fact that the after school programs are a big success when available. What are the children in the area supposed to do when you take their school away What do you expect out of them How would you feelThose of you who sit back in your big chairs with your fancy suits need to think about the decision your making and the real cost to a community that you feel justified in hanging such a dark cloud over.Flag

Why shut down a perfectly good school because you can't afford to keep it anymore... Because you wasted the money else where.. The school is truly the heart of this neighbourhood... PLEASE KEEP IT OPENFlag

Name: Heather Sinclair on Feb 22, 2008Comments: I think that if they closed Lorne Ave. PS they would be making a big mistake because there arent very many schools around that area that could take on all the students. That school has been in my family for generations it would be a big loss if it was to get closed. I was hopeing one day my kids would go there to. Please take in consideration that Lorne Ave is a great school and is in a good area to accomidate everybody.Flag

Where are all the ESL adults going to go so they can learn english, where are all the students going to go. We know that the rest of the Public Schools around cant accomindate all of Lorne Aves students, Why close such a good school, that has nothing wrong with itFlag
