Comments: Give food trucks a chance to compete. I understand that the Downtown Business Group is trying to take care of their own, but the fairness card is pitiful. What business gets some kind of guarantee that they can decide what is fair competition and hold their competition to that? Isn't the USA a free country? If you can compete in a more creative cost effective way, isn't that the American way? Just because someone spends a bunch of dollars opening a restaurant doesn't mean they deserve an anti-competition shield to be built around them.

Comments: Our food trucks contribute to building and strengthening the Boulder community and the city itself. The Tasterie Truck in particular was a participating business in Cupcakes for the Cure to benefit the Susan G. Komen Denver affiliate. How could any of this be bad? Please help keep the trucks rolling! Thank you!

Comments: I support this petition on four grounds: 1) Boulder does not have a sufficient selection of good food at a low price point. 2) A food truck "pod" area would become a major tourist attraction, boosting tourism and my property value. Portland, Oregon is a good example. 3) The distribution of quality, affordable restaurants in Boulder is uneven. Competition affects food truck owners too, and a mobile food truck industry allows these food "deserts" to be well-served, benefiting the community. 4) The late night food selection is highly inadequate. The argument against increased competition for downtown restaurants rings hollow, as very few of them stay open long enough to meet this demand. As someone whose life has revolved around Boulder for the past decade and a downtown condominium owner, I fully support the movement to loosen regulations on the food truck industry.

Comments: I have seen the mobile food industry boom in Portland, Or and would love to see it in Boulder. And it fits Boulder's Foodie Fixation! What a great "thing" to be know for- the love of good food! Let's keep the inspiration and freshness going by allowing the mobile food industry to thrive.

Comments: I was an avid patron of Streat Chefs, a now defunct food truck which ran in Boulder up until early 2011 by Hosea Rosenberg. I was sad to see their business go bust due to the permit issue. Boulder citizens would greatly benefit from food trucks if the ban were lifted and open commerce was able to thrive.

Comments: Since when is it okay to discriminate against the types of businesses are allowed to operate? I think it's disgusting how Boulder City Council has no problem with they way they operate that goes against the basic principles of capitalism. Last I checked, Boulder was a part of America, is it not?

Comments: I have worked downtown for well over ten years and have stopped spending money at downtown lunch establishments. I am simply burnt out on the five locations in proximity to my workplace that can serve me in under thirty minutes. (Note that food trucks can never take away from people who want a full dining experience with tables, chairs, waitstaff and alcoholic beverages.) The food trucks could possibly refuel my interest in the downtown food scene.

Comments: The food trucks will not compete with downtown business. A lot of people want something quick to grab on the go (both business people and tourists) without a full sit-down meal. There are few options for this in the downtown area. Wouldn't it bring in additional tax revenue??

Comments: If the brick-and-mortar restaurant owner has a problem with the rent they're paying to be downtown, then they should change their location. No one made them sign their lease. It's like a temperamental child choosing their desert but deciding they want what their brother has instead, and throwing a tantrum saying "It's not fair!" Competition is good for the market, and the low overhead of running a food truck allows the vendors to do truly creative and interesting things with their food. Just look at the cities that have vibrant food truck culture like New York, LA, and Portland! That's where food innovation is happening.--A Former Brooklynite
