Name: D Hardy on Sep 30, 2009Comments: This magnificant building has been allowed to rot because the City council has failed to impose its demands on the owner who has in turn left the building as an eyesore on one of the major approaches to the city centre. The proposed plans for re-development are dreadful and must be rejected. All in all a disgraceful state of affairs. Time to force the issue.Flag

Name: Michael Whitley on Sep 30, 2009Comments: I dont need to repeat what everyone else has already stated. The building should maintain its beauty and historic values by being refurbished; its external image should not alter in any way. It doesnt need an ugly glass extension to compete with other buildings as it competes with them as it stands. New buildings are not new forever and interest in them decreases after their construction (i.e beetham tower ) whereas, people still walk by th old fire station, look up, and still say "WOW". The wow factor cannot be lost by a new extension!Flag

Name: James on Sep 30, 2009Comments: Redevelopment has been deferred on numerous occasions, with successive promises from the current owners that proposals were imminent. Even with the large scale regeneration of the surrounding Piccadilly area that has occurred in the past 10+ years, the current owners have failed to bring forward any viable proposal. The most recent proposals once again demonstrate no real seriousness to proceed with appropriate redevelopment and I therefore urge Manchester City Council to step in and CPO the grade II listed Fire Station, in order to secure its future, and further progress regeneration in this landmark location in Manchester City Centre.Flag

Name: Alex Beaumont on Sep 30, 2009Comments: Property developers working in dynamic urban environments have a responsibility to push projects forward for the wider good of the city, not merely for the good of their business. If they cannot do this within a realistic time frame they should put the site on the market. Britannia are acting irresponsibly and the council should CPO London Road Fire Station.Flag

Name: Alex Green on Sep 30, 2009Comments: The current owners have taken much too long to do anything and all plans released appear purely as stalling tactics to delay any CPO. This should move to new owners ASAP to allow for expanded regeneration in the Piccadilly area.Flag
