Name: Anonymous on Jul 24, 2009Comments: Money would be better spent on North Road in Durham as anyone using the rail or bus system has to walk down North Road and it is the worst part of the town. Surely that area could do better being regenerated. In my oppinion the market square is fine as it is, old, quaint and just what people come to Durham to see.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jul 24, 2009Comments: I cannot agree with Durham City Vision`s plans for the removal of the statue of Lord Londonderry. How many of these planners are local people, born & bred in Durham It is change for change sake, and completely misgiuded, though I fear they will not be satisfied until their views will be steam-rollered through.Flag

Name: Mary Robinson on Jul 24, 2009Comments: I have lived in Durham all my 75 years and consequently know many people. I find it incredible that a majority favour moving the horse as not one person I have spoken to wishes it to be moved. It is a central point of City life and the market place would be spoiled if it was removed from its pivotal spot. No thank you. Leave him alone!Flag

Name: Mr H. Robson on Jul 24, 2009Comments: I fully support the City Of Durham Trust and their comments. In turn, since the Government Decree for the removal of all District Councils within the County of Durham, Durham County Council is forcing issues against the wishes of the people. We are the first totalitarian system of government in the United Kingdom, designed by the Labour Government, even when the people voted "NO" to the changes. Those who died in two world wars to protect our democratic principles will be turning in their graves.Flag

Name: Alison Curry on Jul 24, 2009Comments: I fully endorse all statements of this petition. This is a Market Place, a busy place to be filled, not left empty. Millenium Square had to have seating and a statue to give it some character, so too does the Market Place. Moving the horse does NOT give more space, only space in a different part of the Market Square. Perhaps what is required is the VISION to make use of the space available as it now exists.Flag

Name: Jeff Kilkenny on Jul 25, 2009Comments: Whats are Durham City Vision thinking!!! (then again are they really thinking at all or just changing things for changing sake)The statue is the heart of Durham market place, non of their reasons for change are needed and the investment needed for such work could be better spent else where. Bottom line THE PEOPLE OF DURHAM DONT WANT OR NEED THIS CHANGE!!Flag
