Name: Janice Hinson on Nov 20, 2009Comments: I was born and grew up in Durham City and witnessness many horiffic changes to a historic City which has lost some historic buidlings. People come to Durham to vist an historic city to move and alter this is a crime and the people proposing this have no link or association with the City. The staute was a meeting place for myself and friends in the town and as a child a played around the statue. It should not be moved and i hope the protest contiues. How is the council getting away with itFlag

The moving of this statue is the final straw in the homogenization of Durham City centre vast areas of which have now become ' Could be Anywhere Street'. For countless cultural, social and historical reasons the Horse should stay in it's rightful position. Moving it is further selling Durham's soul and pandering to the pockets of retail.Flag

Name: Alison Parry on Jul 7, 2010Comments: I was living away from Durham for a short time when Lord L. and his horse were removed, thus I didn't know about the proposal to move him. In fact I've only just found out about it by Googling to see when he would be returned! Whilst I can understand the statue may need restoration, I can't understand why it needs to be relocated out of the way upon its return. The first day I came to live and work in Durham I walked up into the Market Place and was amazed by that statue.. The Market Place looks lost without it and completely lacks the wow-factor it had when the statue was there. I wish I'd known about this earlier when my signature maybe would have helped make a difference.Flag
