Name: Anonymous on Feb 8, 2013Comments: I have lived in the area for 35 years and have been appalled at the poor train service to Lockerbie. It has been impossible to return from either Glasgow or Edinburgh on a late train after an evening out. I am delighted to hear that there will be more trains in future.Flag

Name: Malcolm Hart on Feb 9, 2013Comments: I travelled from London to Lockerbie from 1985 - 1997 with no problem but since 1997 I can no longer get all the way up the line to home because the London to Glasgow train doesn’t stop at Lockerbie station. Trains go through Lockerbie but only a few Virgin trains stop there, and not the ones from London. I can't even buy return advance tickets anymore and can only get as far as Carlisle and I have to make the rest of my journey with a different company to get to a station that Virgin travels through anyway. The service to Lockerbie has got less frequent over the years.Flag

Name: Ronald & Elinor Lewis-Smith on Feb 11, 2013Comments: A more frequent service to/from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Carlisle would be hugely beneficial and allow a reasonable length of time at each of these cities and return home within one day, thereby reducing traffic congestion on the roads, parking in the cities and energy savings.Flag

Name: Brian Wilson on Feb 12, 2013Comments: From Sept 2013 I will be travelling to Edinburgh from Lockerbie, almost daily. I am planning to study structural engineering at Heriot Watt Uni. I do however have to be there by 0915. Unless the train times change, so I can be there before 0900, I will struggle to make my way there. I hope that this public transport service can be made avalible for people in our region to travel to Edinburgh in good time for the 0900 start, whether for employment or education. It would be a huge benefit for the region.Flag

Name: John Thomson on Feb 13, 2013Comments: I am already a regular user of services from Lockerbie station, often for journeys of considerable length (eg to Perth, Stirling and Inverness as well as Edinburgh and Glasgow within Scotland, and to destinations such as London, Cardiff, Cornwall and Brussels travelling south). I also receive a good number of visitors who travel by train, again from a wide variety of places. Although I recognise the particular importance of early morning trains for some users, I would also like to stress the benefits of more frequent stops - preferably at fairly regular intervals - throughout the day. At present there are lengthy breaks in service which make it more difficult for people to plan travel around commitments of uncertain duration. This would be in line with the general trend towards more regular and predictable schedules. It is perhaps worth noting that the carbon costs of extra stops at Lockerbie should be quite easy to recoup, since most travellers will be embarking on quite lengthy journeys which they might well otherwise have to make by car.Flag
