Llanbedr Airfield Estates LLP aims to establish an aircraft maintenance, decommissioning and disassembly operation, creating between 34-50 jobs in the third year. Once again the Snowdonia Society, made up of mainly visitors and non residents has objected to the plans and no doubt will try and derail this opportunity for local regeneration and jobs. A report to next week’s planning meeting said: “It has been concluded that potential benefits of establishing a new employment generating use at what is currently a redundant site, will outweigh the limited impact that the development may have on the character of the area, or the amenities of nearby residents. “On this basis it is therefore to be recommended that, subject to the imposition of appropriate conditions, planning permission for the re-use of the application site, for the mixed use proposed, should be granted.” Alongside the aircraft maintenance operations, the company propose to establish an aircraft engineering/maintenance training school. Old airliners would be broken up, selling some parts for reuse and disposing of the rest as waste. Aircraft incapable of being returned to active use will be decommissioned and taken apart. We the undersigned want to support the application put forward by Llanbedr Airfield Estates LLP aimed at regenerating LLanbedr airfield and the creation of jobs.
