Name: Tom Newton on Sep 20, 2012Comments: I am an avid mountain biker and I enjoy biking the awesome trails throughout Montgomery County and in Little Bennett in particular. The closing of Dark Branch has limited my options for rides in Little Bennett and I think a new east/west connection is very important for all trail users.Flag

Name: James Callahan on Sep 20, 2012Comments: I live in Alexandria, VA and am willing to drive all the way out to LB because the trail system is extensive and challenging. I think it is important to develop a network of trails that encourages users to make full use them. When trails are orphaned in some corner of the park they tend to get neglected in both use and maintenance.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Sep 20, 2012Comments: Mountain Biking. I've been riding in Montgomery County since 1999 and just took my first ride in Little Bennett earlier this month with a MORE led group. Prior to that I had been hesitant to ride there since the trail maps look like a pile of spaghetti, criss-crossing every which way with lots of dead end out and back routes. Any trail work which involves creating a continuous outer loop, linking parking and trail heads, would be a huge bonus in my opinion. The park would feel more accessible to me. The trails built within the last year are extremely well done and are a great improvement.Flag

The other side is awsome but to far for the kids to ride to. My kids would rather camp at Cunningham Falls because the hiking is better but if they could ride there bikes on the trails around the camp site they would pick LB over Cunningham falls every time.Flag

Name: Tony Papandrea on Sep 22, 2012Comments: The new trails in LB are very nice. I am hopeful that Dark Branch will be connected to Western Piedmont as it was before the closure. It is a long way from Hyattstown Rd to Pine Grove to get into the multi use trails and there is a substantial water crossing in order to get there. Thank you for considering the Dark Branch to Westen Piedmont connector.Flag

Name: Martin Beam on Sep 24, 2012Comments: I love the new browning run, hard cider, and windy ridge trails!! but we need more sustainable trails to connect the perimeter and provide at least 20 miles on looping trails. I am a biker and would love to ride some of the hiker only trails which appear to be underused. I think it is obvious that Dark Branch needs to be connected to the rest of the trails system or it won't get used. please realign the remaining legacy trails to provide a more sustainable trail system.Flag

Name: Denis Chazelle on Sep 25, 2012Comments: I am an endurance cross country mountain biker. I love riding long distances on my bike. A short loop from the parking lot back to the parking lot 30 minutes later isn't my cup of tea. Contrary to what one might think, there are plenty of opportunities to ride long distances in Montgomery County. In fact, the MoCo Epic, which goes through Little Bennett, is recognized by the International Mountain Biking Association as just one of around 50 true epic rides in the US, and attracts hundreds of bikers from all around the country when it held in as an event in October. (See www.mocoepic.com for details) What is most important in putting such a route together, whether it's for the MoCo Epic or for my personal enjoyment, is connectivity, of course. From one park to another, but also within parks. Connectivity gives you options. Unconnected trails become less ridden, and over time will just stop being used. Finally, like others I would like to say that I love Little Bennett. It is the largest and most challenging park in Montgomery County, as well as the most beautiful. Keep it open, and connected!Flag

Name: Thomas Martin on Sep 25, 2012Comments: Equestrians were dismayed to lose the trail connection between Dark Branch and Western Piedmont trails. Please approve the new connection that the Trail Conservancy is advocating! Also please note that many equestrians have need for more miles of trails, partly so we don't overuse the trail segments already available. Is there a defensible reason why all of the hiker only trails at Little Bennett have to stay that way? We see lots of hikers on the trails we can use, and would really appreciate consideration to opening some hiker only trails to mixed use. thank you for your time.Flag
