We as students recognize and believe that politicians, community leaders, and community organizations should further recognize the importance and value of the student voice and input when discussing issues and forming their agendas. Many of the decisions that come to local leaders and leaders in general tend to be programs designed to be built in 5-10 or even more years. With this in mind we would like leaders to understand that in that time process many of the current youth are going to become the users of the new programs, program cuts, community designs and such. It is these youth that will grow to be the primary users and consumers when completed while many of those deciding on the matters will no longer be the primary beneficiary of such things. With that in mind one can come to the conclusion that many of the decisions are going to be relevant to the current youth than the presiding deciders or influential voice on the matter. Therefore, since many of the youth will be the main beneficiary on such topics. We would like to request that youth have a larger voice, say, and influence on issues and be sought out to have their voices heard. Additionally, we would like leaders to equally listen to, listen with validity, and authentically listen to the voices of the youth.
