Just when I thought the sports doldrums of February were upon us because the Super Bowl was over and baseball was a few weeks away, Linsanity swept through my living room like a hurricane. Over the last 7 games, everyone has watched Jeremy Lin bring life back into the Knicks, help them reach 500, and create a new wave of NBA fans. Now I’m getting greedy. I want another chapter in this great story and that chapter is one where Jeremy Lin has the opportunity to play in the 2012 BBVA Rising Stars Challenge. All we’re asking for is the opportunity for him to be drafted by Team Shaq and Team Chuck. WE NEED THE NBA TO ADD LINSANITYTO THE TALENT POOL. Kenny Smith was on the Herd and talked about giving each commissioner a chance to add a player that wasn’t on the roster. Why not? This is the All-Star game. If the NBA is looking for a way to capture the attention of the casual fan or bring Linsanity into even more homes across the globe in days, weeks, months, and, hopefully, years to come, then this is David Stern’s opportunity. Just like Jeremy Lin, all we’re looking for is a chance.
