For those who are wondering what will become of the petition to Linden Labs once we reach our signature goal, we will put the petition with all signatures on a blog site so it remains permanently and is able to build traffic. In addition to a web presence, the petition and all signatures will be printed out and mailed to as many Lindens as I can reach. We want this to be a real life effort to reach the company that provides the service to us, its customers. When you sign, please sign with your main avatar name, no alts. Thank you.
This petition comes in the midst of a virtual crime wave in Second Life. Criminals are running free while the honest are victims, mocked by a main account while a disposable alt copybots their shape for the main to later sell on Marketplace, knowing that a DMCA won't lead to a ban. Welcome centers are no longer welcome, with profanity greeting the teens now allowed to join the adult grid, along with the nudity parents were promised would be kept to adult areas. Dissatisfaction is common, seeping into the blogs and social media. We're hoping this petition will make a difference before we watch the remainder of our fellow residents slip away from Second Life and into competitor virtual worlds.
