To: Milwaukee County Parks Department (WI)
The goal of this petition is to support the construction of a 1.5 acre, fenced in, off-leash dog park at Lincoln Park.
It is essential to have your voice heard if you want this dog park. The Milwaukee County Parks Department, the Lincoln Park Friends Group, and County Supervisor White whose district Lincoln Park falls under, are in favor of establishing a dog park at this site. They have requested that Residents for Off-leash Milwaukee Parks for Dogs (aka ROMP for Dogs) obtain signatures via petition to show that there is overall public support and support of people in the neighborhoods near Lincoln Park.
Let your voices be heard, sign this petition, and get your neighbors and friends to sign too by forwarding it to them.
There are many benefits to providing safe places for dogs to gather and play legally \"off-leash\" including:
· Dog parks help resolve the ongoing angst between dog owners, non-owners, police and park authorities regarding dog access to the parks.
· Many dogs need exercise over and above human limitations; leashes limit the dogs space and pace.
· Socializing dogs is very beneficial to the community, since it makes them less skittish and mitigates aggressive behavior when meeting other dogs and people.
· Such a facility would increase park utilization and increase interaction among families in the community.
Once constructed, dog owners through the organization known as ROMP for Dogs will participate in maintaining the dog park and raising funds the necessary funds to ensure in long-term existence. Again, we would appreciate your consideration in constructing an enclosed dog park in Lincoln Park.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned
